Have you had this professionally diagnosed?

Tendonitis can take many weeks to heal especailly if you dont rest it.

How old are you? it could be arthritis. On the top of the foot just in front of your ankle there are a whole group of small bones which if arthrits is present they can be extremely painful.

Rest, compression and elevation. Ibuprofen gel liberally applied to the area well help with pain relief and inflamation.

Good luck and Happy Christmas

Hi Balotelli
The GP said it was this about 3 or 4 weeks ago. It doesnt look swollen but the skin is so tight. I'm 37 and have been having back and hip pain which I'm seeing a physio for. I wondered about arthritis as my Mum had it but blood test said no so GP dismissed it. My foot is so uncomfortable today, only painful to stretch it but feels achy and tight. Really getting me down. x

Ok so I'm panicking now, foot is puffy on top and uncomfortable. Is this really tendonitis? Keep reading heart, liver, kidney failure. With Christmas here I cant get to the doc so I'm scared. Please help x

How are you feeling today? Did you go to a walk in clinic?
I have had tendonitis everywhere: I even got diagnosed with tendonitis of the eyeball once! Have you been advised to take ibuprofen?

Is it only your foot that is puffy? I think a walk-in clinic is a good idea, if you can.

HI
I spoke to my Gp over the phone who doesnt seem worried unless my calf swelled too. Said it takes 6 weeks to heal and see how it goes. They are open on thursday so will go in if no better. Not so panicky now as its just the top of my foot, assume the swelling would be in other places if anything serious? x

lljkk, Tendonitis in your eye?? What were your symptoms? x

Tendonitis was how the optician described my eyestrain problems. I've also had it in both forearms, probably in triceps, both knees and at least one of the Achilles. Did I mention I get whiplash easily, too? But that's ligaments, not tendons.

good to hear you had a reassuring chat from GP. Tendon problems are a swine, take it easy. Good circulation will help improve healing, though, perhaps you could try swimming, otherwise keep the foot warm.

I've got something like this on my right foot that I've not been able to rest due to work. Consequently, I am spending Christmas day not being able to put any weight on it. Luckily my husband, eldest son and the teenagers are sorting everything.

I've has Achilles tendinitis for nearly a year now Xmas Sad

Rest and aggressive icing, combined with ibuprofen gel is advice I've been given.

mandmsmummy · 30/12/2012 21:55

A year chesty? Poor u. My physio thinks it could be a nerve problem now. Had a day in bed today as knackered but leg feels achy. Borrowed cryo cuff from physio to relieve swelling which is working but can't help worry what it could be. X
