I asked the pharmacist and she looked at me as though I was already speaking in foreign language...Xmas Shock She recommended I try the customs and excise website. I tried there, realised my mistake (website only for tax type issues) and then tried NHS website. I think Xmas Confused that I can take the inhaler with my prescription but Im thinking no to the codeine as that is considered a controlled substance here...as you can tell Xmas Confused

If they are prescribed and clearly labelled it shouldn't be a problem? You may need to back the codine in your case though?

Inhalers aren't an issue, I have travelled a few times with DS inhalers in hand luggage

Take a copy of your prescription and make sure all mess are in the original box/ bottle with details on the outside. Millions of people travel with prescribed drugs, you will be fine

Meds not mess!

Codeine can actually be bought in any pharmacy in France, with (seemingly) no restriction on amount.

winnybella · 18/12/2012 23:15

Hmm, no, you can get codeine here IIRC, or at least you could few years ago, small amounts OTC and larger on px.

Tbh no one will check, and if they do they won't confiscate it especially if you've got px with you. It's France, a country that loves overmedicating and has pharmacies on every corner, not Saudi Arabia.

winnybella · 18/12/2012 23:16

x-post Pony. Yeah, that's what I thought.

We've taken DD's prescribed meds abroad with us several times. If we're flying she just pops them into a clear bag to go through security, everything is in it's boxes with labels attached though. How do you mean controlled substance? At work it's only things like diamorphine that is kept in the 'controlled drugs' cupboard, codeine just lives in the regular drugs cupboard along with a million and one other meds.

Take a copy of your prescription with you, you will be fine.

I travelled round half of South America with a bag full of prescription drugs. I was only stopped once, I showed the prescription and I was waved through.
