Protuding vein in breast

Yesterday morning I noticed a long rope like lump on the skin surface in my breast running in a curved shape when I looked at myself in the mirror. I was alarmed and checked later again to find it had dissapeared. It felt like a vein as I am very skinny and have lots of lumpy veins on my arms and hands. This morning I noticed it again and it was very clearly visable again. Is it usual to have a vein that in your breast that comes up and down like this? Double checked just now and again there is no sign of it and my breast feels smooth. PS I am not pregnant.

I had this very recently and went to my GP. It was on my left breast starting near my cleavage and curving up and out to the left over the top aqrch of my breast. She examined me and asked me to come back after my next period, by which time it had gone. Obviously no one can diagnose you here but try not to worry and definitely go and have it checked out. Sometimes I think it can just be a symptom of a virus or general being unwell, like when your nodes in your neck or armpit swell up when fighting infection but it is better to just get it checked if you can. Mine hasn't come back, I am breastfeeding so it may have been connected to that.

Just wanted to reassure you that I have had similar and am ok.

hi there

yes it did. It seemed most obvious when I was lying down though. I did have a bit of an ache in my breast too for a while which is what made me really worry and got me to the GP.

That's my worry is that if I made an appointment there wouldn't be anything to see. As it only seems to be visable first thing in the morning. Sorry could I ask did your GP say that it was a vein?

I totally understand your worry. She said it was a vein and it could be just natural changes in the veins because of my menstrual cycle or because I am breastfeeding.
It was ok, she checked both my breasts and said though she could feel the vein (the first time I went) it wasn't a lump so to come back in 3 weeks. By then it had gone and she just said to keep an eye on it.

I was on holiday when I noticed it so it was 2 weeks before I could go to the GP, I was really terrified but so relieved once I had been. By the time I got to her the vein was smaller and didn't hurt so I was worried she might not be able to feel it and would think I was stupid but she was great. Honestly - for your own peace of mind I would recommend going to the GP. At least that way you can get a full breast exam (with hands) and they might refer you for a scan if needed.
