How much does the tooth fairy leave for a first tooth?

A whole new parenting topic in the Darcy household!

DS1 has lost his first baby tooth and gone to sleep wildly excited at the prospect of the tooth fairy showering him with cash. He seems to think £1 minimum is fair. I was thinking more along the lines of 20 - 50p. Any views?

We've given dd CHF 5.- Roughly £2! Blush

elastamum · 10/04/2006 21:24

I left £2 as we were in France and it was the only english coin I had, wish I had had £1 though, there are an awful lot of teeth!!

quelsouci · 10/04/2006 21:27

We haven't started giving her pocket money, though. She'll only get that when she earns it. Wink

SparklyGothKat · 10/04/2006 21:29

£1 here

alexsmum · 10/04/2006 21:30

£1 atooth in this house and the first tooth out , the fairy left a certificate too.

spidermama · 10/04/2006 21:31

£1 but my friend leaves 10p. Shock

quelsouci · 10/04/2006 21:32

10p's mean!

Milliways · 10/04/2006 21:35

£1 here too!

DS had a tooth removed in hospital after an accident (age 3) and was upset to find the tooth fairy had visited him in OR & left 50p taped to the tube with his tooth in (as his sister was getting £1 per tooth & he new it). However, we told him that as he had his tooth back as well he could leave it out for the fairy when he got home!

We have £2 for the first tooth in our house. Any teeth after that are worth £1.

mrsdarcy · 10/04/2006 22:29

Thanks for the comments everyone Smile.

I've just left £1. I can't wait to see him when he wakes up. He's so excited.

Thats a lot of £1's to leave.............I have twins!!!!!!!! lol lol

snorkle · 11/04/2006 09:54

Our dentist told ds his tooth fairy was mean to 'only' leave 50p. Apparently £1 is the going rate around here.

shimmy21 · 11/04/2006 10:05

50p for a front tooth and £1 for a molar. Just count up how many teeth your children are going to lose altogether before you start flashing round fivers!

JonesTheSteam · 11/04/2006 10:10

We left £1 on the weekend - DD's first tooth!!!!!!

flack · 11/04/2006 16:28

Friend said "Don't give too much money or they will try to work all their teeth loose!" Our tooth fairy (there's one unique to each house, didn't you know?) tends to give toys rather than money. Gave DS a new lunchbox and a 20p last time... he promptly lost the 20p, at least I know where the lunchbox is.

BellaLasagne · 11/04/2006 16:30

£1 for each

kid · 11/04/2006 16:30

First tooth is worth £2 and all other teeth are worth £1. DD has so far lost 2 teeth in just over a week! Her 3rd tooth is wobbly and will probably be out by the weekend.

Enid · 11/04/2006 16:30

£2 for the big/painful/tricky ones
£1 for the rest

kid · 11/04/2006 16:31

it just fallen out with the help of her brother Shock I wasn't expecting that quite so soon!

Riddo · 11/04/2006 17:16

I give 50p for a front tooth and a pound for a molar but my daughter does think I'm mean (shes 11) Six year old is quite happy though.
