Well done otm Smile

Hi sunnymeg- welcome. No advice on lympodema but nice to meet you.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 10/01/2013 14:07

hello sunnymeg - you are very welcome...no lymphoedema here either

Sometimesiwonder · 10/01/2013 15:08

Hi Sunnymeg.

Teeny tiny bit of lymphodoema here too, but nothing too troublesome. I was told wine makes it worse, so cider might also Sad. Cancer really is the gift that keeps right on giving.

But anyway, welcome!

KK - poor barn owl baby. Sad

How's the -ahem - diet going KK? Dd gave me a framed photo of her, dh and me. They look lovely, I look the size of house (and not a starter home either). I've made myself keep it on the desk to spur me on.....

topsyturner · 10/01/2013 15:59

Well done Sometimes , that was an endurance test and a half !

Welcome Sunny
I haven't had any lymphodema , well I tried to blame by bingo wings on it but no one believed me ... Grin

HND is in her pjs now (out of her fetching hospital gown at last)
Still pretty sore , but sounds better than yesterday .

It is cold cold cold here .
I have the heating on full blast , and I still have to wrap myself in my blankie to keep my extremities warm

Going to order a Chinese for dinner tonight , any suggestions ?

Gigondas · 10/01/2013 16:24

Duck pancake. Have you got a heat up blanket that you can put over you? They are ace. Glad hnd feeling bit better- getting out of bed is a big step.

And Grin at kurri on John McCririck thread

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 10/01/2013 17:49

I hate John McCririck Gig, he is a knob of the first order! He actually makes me feel physically sick, but I could put up with the physical drawbacks if he was a nice man, but he's not, he's a disgusting sexist git. How he managed to persuade anyone to marry him I don't know.

Sometimes - my diet has plateaued somewhat Blush - I didn't put on any weight over Christmas (which surprised me) but neither have I lost any for about four weeks, I am also house-like (and as you say, we are not talking small terrace, more Blenheim Palace Grin) I have until mid Feb to shift some for my plastic surgeon consultation, so I need to get my bum in gear

topsyturner · 10/01/2013 18:14

Am presently eating a Pot Noodle and drinking a large glass of rosé .
I am a class act !

Might just have to order the duck and pancakes later though Gigs

KK have you been on a rant again ? Point me in the right direction purlease ??? Grin

KurriKurri · 10/01/2013 18:32

Its here topsy - not a rant though, just a passing commentGrin

Gigondas · 10/01/2013 18:56

Ranting is therapeutic (as is rosé and pot noodle). Anyone else got celeb pet hates? I don't count John McCririck as kurri is right that there are perfectly good reasons to despise him.

I have many but I have an irrational dislike for Katherine Jenkins.

OP posts:
jchocchip · 10/01/2013 19:05

Hello sunnymeg well done on 5 years. mmmmm scrumpy! a little swelling here, on and off, not really lymphodema, though my Mum had it for years in her leg - manual lymphatic drainage did wonders for her...
rose and pot noodle does indeed sound theraputic :)
Have my formal offer letter so time to give in notice tomorrow!!! Aargh scary new job, and I've signed up for an exam in June, I must be mad!

KurriKurri · 10/01/2013 19:46

Oh don't get me on celebrity pet hates Gig Grin - I'm with you on Katherine Jenkins, also Davina McCall - she gurns all the time -why? Stop it woman.
Carol Vorderman (for being a raving tory and cramming herself into wearing innapropriate clothing) and David Starkey - for obvious reasons - he's ghastly and mad. Phew that was therapeutic Grin

jchoc - congratulations on your new job, - scary but exciting in equal measures I expect, - well done you Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/01/2013 22:29

celebs which really irritate me - Katherine Jenkins, Alan Titchmarsh,Fearne Cotton, Myleene Klass,Tess Daly, Carol Vorderman...there are more but won't trouble you with them.
Glad to hear that hnd is in her jimjams - hope soreness isn't too horrid.

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/01/2013 22:30

good luck with notice handing in jane

AtoZandbackagain · 10/01/2013 22:59

Hi
This is Day 4 of my first chemo cycle and I'm starting to feel very shaky, headachy and generally unwell. The mild nausea I experineced since Day 2 is still present.
I must be starting to look ill as I dragged myself out to buy a very accurate thermomemter today and the shop assistant rushed over to serve me! I must have looked like how I feel. I'm surprised the bad side effects are strating so early.

Sorry for the whinge.

jchocchip · 10/01/2013 23:05

Thanks! I've typed the letter and just sent it as an attachment to an email. I will go into work tomorrow and print a copy out and give it to my boss too though. I am really sad to be leaving the department - don't know what I will be like in a month. I started here 8.5 years ago and have worked my way through temp, admin, reception, admin and lastly planning officer. I know I'm only going a few hundred yards but it takes me a long time to learn names and faces and I am quite capable of getting lost in City Hall ... It is a move I couldn't refuse though and I am finally going to complete the qualification I started 22 years ago...

Jolly cold here - going to bed soon, so nighty night lovelies hnd hope you get some rest and the mols are not too noisy tonight.

jchocchip · 10/01/2013 23:08

xpost atoz sorry you are feeling rough ((())) whinge away, its one thing we are here for - safe place to whinge.

Brew and bed for me.

topsyturner · 11/01/2013 07:37

Morning All

AtoZ please let your Oncs know if you are feeling crappy . If they don't know , they can't help .

Jane good luck with the notice giving . Do they know its coming ?
I always hated giving notice (when I used to be gainfully employed Grin )

Horrible dreams last night .
Didn't get to sleep till after 2am . And then dreams were so horrid , I was awake again by 5 Hmm

But on the plus side , it's Friday !
Anyone got any exciting weekend plans ?

PenisColada · 11/01/2013 08:13

Horrible dreams for me too, hospitals and needles featuring heavily.

I need some advice. How do I deal with a friend who thinks doctors have got it all wrong and alternative medicine is the only way forward ?
She is great company and I really like her but her views are very extreme. I can weave lentils with the best of them but I am not going to turn down cancer surgery.

I am generally calmer and just want the surgery over and done with.

Gigondas · 11/01/2013 08:41

Jchoc- exciting but can see how it is a big change but I suspect you will embrace it.

Topsy- sorry you had crap night - feeling bit drained myself and also glad it's Friday.

Penis - you have some alternatives (and I am with you on conventional Working alongside alternative stuff so happy to chat woo lentil stuff that helped me ). 1. Ignore- change subject or avoid her 2. Call her on it- say you prefer standard approach and that alternative approach not established 3. Just grin and bear it 4. Tell her to mind her own business.

It is irritating- I am binning the health mag a well meaning friend got as a subscription for me at Xmas to coincide with her lectures on diet etc ( made worse as I do see a dietician and exercise).

Mas - yes to a lot of those but can I add in Tom Daley. Don't know why but he irritates me.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 11/01/2013 08:42

Atoz- sorry you are poorly but keep your diary. I seem to remember week 1 feeling poorly, week 2 feeling tired and week 3 ok

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 11/01/2013 10:03

AtoZ - what Gig said. It is horrible, so massive sympathies. But they can help if you are honest rather than brave. And it will pass (until the next cycle, at least Hmm ). At least you have started on the journey now, and each day gets you further through it....

Well done Jchocchip! It's exciting. You go, girl!

All the celeb names mentioned here grind my gears, too. I am quite intolerant. I also cannot stand Tom Cruise or Matt Damon. Robson Green always looks like he needs a wash, and I truly can't look at Bruce Forsyth.

Gigondas · 11/01/2013 10:10

Why did you mention Bruce jchoc - it's giving me the rage just thinking of him. Can I add Christine bleakley and holly willoghby?

Put call into my specialist nurse as scan and anniversary giving me big set of anxiety and paranoia wobbles.

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 11/01/2013 10:11

atoz sorry you are feeling so bad. Don't suffer if you are really feeling rough be sure to tell your team as they can only help you if you tell them. Were you on steroids as I found I had a crash and felt awful for a few days after stopping them each cycle?

Hope hnd on the mend and managed to get some sleep.

pen umm difficult one. I am a bit totally clueless on alternative stuff. If it was me I would probably just let her waffle on and then do my own thing anyway. I wonder would she be so keen to disregard conventional medicine if it was her.

jchoc good luck with handing in your notice.

Fourth Herceptin for me today and then off to the rugby tonight I must be mad.

Gigondas · 11/01/2013 10:15

Gracie I always think of you when see rugby on. I have selflessly offered to stay home with big gig (who gets bored when chocolate buttons run out) when rugby is on tomorrow. Won't it be freezing?
