I'm too afraid to try anything else just incase it doesn't work. My Mum also used Imigram. Other than that I can't help. If you're on thre pill have you considered coming off it or changing it? I used to have migraines about every 3 months, more related to stress than anything else but spent 3yrs ttc and only had 1, then 1 while pg and 2 since (am breastfeeding) so they must be related to my hormones too. Had a coil fitted 2m ago so giving that a go for a while. Sorry if tmi but wondered if you had considered altering your hormones? hth

I think you are right it prob is linked to hormones..I am not on the pill or anything. But feel i should stop wine, choc etc tho i am not convinced.I will go to docs next week but i prob need to exercise more and i may go down the alternative route.

I get menstrual migraines as well. I find the more exercise I do, the worse the migraine actually is! I don't know why that should be the case but I have to be very careful not to exercise in the week before my period so if you start exercising, be aware of that (it may be that it doesn't affect you but I thought I should mention it).

Have you worked out if you have any additional triggers (other than hormones)? Things like sweets, chocolate are common ones.

bramblina · 08/04/2006 21:34

My boss's are triggered by orange jellybabiesShock the others are fine thoughGrin
Thought it would be good for you to know of any associations not just the obvious ones as it may make it easier for you to track it down.

foxinsocks · 08/04/2006 21:36

how extraordinary! I wonder how he figured out that it was only the orange ones!! I didn't know it could be so specific.

(one of my main triggers is wine gums - I go completely mad craving for them, the sort of wake up at 3am and feel the need to get dressed and go and get them mad! - I wonder if I should try all the colours and see if it is a specific one that's causing the problems!!).

Yes i thought i would cut out wine first then choc to see.I wondered if high cholesterol could be a factor.I am in the process of reducing it.I t runs in the family

Oh god wine and choc your first options? It's bad isn't it?!?!
I think jellybabies are worth the effort though!

try some of the organic ones and the ones without sulphites (normally says on the label)

foxinsocks · 08/04/2006 21:49

how high is your cholesterol? (it also runs in our family)

doobydoo · 08/04/2006 21:51

Yes thats a good idea.I found a recipe in Hugh Fearnley whittingstalls book that someone lent me..it looks quite easy.I live in the sunny southeast of ireland and it is quite hard getting different stuff.I might go to Cork..its only an hour away and have a look round.I know some of the supermarkets in the uk are great at labelling their wines.I only left a year ago but it feels like ages!
