Lump on leg

My DH has a lump on the back of his thigh that is hard and about 5cmx3cm. He noticed it the other day, and as he does a lot of running, we thought it must be something to do with that. He had a physio appointment today and they said they don't know what it is and are sending him for an ultrasound. I have stupidly googled, and am now terrified that he has a sarcoma. Please tell me it could be something harmless!

I was going to say that a painful soft, hot lump can be a thrombosis as know 2 men who had that., who survived by the way.

The only person I know who had a sarcoma was my nephew, who had it in a testicle, and was cured with just 2 injections of chemo

I had a long painful and quite hard long thin lump on outer side of shin, after knocking it, and was a surface vein thrombosis - nothing serious. This was years ago, and although it has improved it is still there, but so am I.

When does he have the ultra sound?

Thanks Digerd. It's not hot or painful - it looks and feels like the rest of his leg muscle, it just bulges out where it should be flat. He has to make the ultrasound appointment tomorrow (we aren't in UK so he should be able to get one pretty quickly, hopefully in the next few days).

Where are you? Yep, in the UK we wait ages.

We're in Switzerland

I lived in Germany for many years and their health System is wonderful.
Local Gps and specialists are on call all over Bank Holidays, and I phoned my Gyny on Xmas Day, and had an appt on Boxing Day with her, and she gave me medication I needed. We did not have to go to hospitals to see specialists, there were numerous ones with a 9-5, Mon -Fri practices all local, and got appts in a few days if not next day .

I expect it is similar in Switzerland.

Good luck tomorrow,

Yes, it is good, although he has to pay the first 2000CHF before the insurance takes over. He has an appointment on Monday for the ultrasound.

Oh dear, we paid nothing in Germany, other than the health insurance monthly, which was 10% of your gross income in 1998.
Good luck on Monday.

Can't think what it can be if not painful. Hope nothing serious.

Everyone complaining of the sudden cold here , -2 in the night and +4 in the sun, during the day. South East area. Which is nothing compared to your country or Germany.
