Treating glue ear???

Suggestions please. DD2 is looking more and more like she has glue ear. She has been referred to the hospital to see ENT.
What I need to know is this, are there any other treatments that could help her? She is back on high dose antibiotics. I know grommits are a distinct possibility.
Are there any alternative treatments which would help?

Not sure how old your DD is but you might like to try cutting out dairy products.

Also, my DD has finished 6 months of anti-hystamines for her allergies and almost straight away she is complaining about her ears "popping" ( has grommetts fitted), I think the meds had helped keep everything in her ears clear. I know you probably wouln't go down that route but it deffo seemed to help DD.

DD2 was 2 last Sunday.
My GP mentioned anti histamines to see if that helped, but wanted DD2 to have another course of abs before we try that.

Hi YG, my ds sufferred with glue ear and had grommets at 2.5. He ois 4 now and suffers from allergies - I think he has hayfever so I've just started giving him antihistimines.

Long term anti b's didn't work for ds, ear drops were far more effective. His specialist didn't beleive oral anti b's do any good for glue ear.

I assume you keep her ears dry when swimming/bathing?

TRy cutting out dairy, and some people swear by crianial osteopathy.

Sory she's having a rough time.

cranial oesteopathy has been shown to be very effective in children with glue ear.

I'm a firm believer in cranial osteopathy - DS's glue ear has gone in left ear and has improved in the right in three treatments. In case you have it, it's covered under some private health plans (I have BUPA from work luckily). My osteo also recommends hopi ear candles - this will depend on your dd's age but might be worth a read up.
