They flew to pick my ill dad up by helicopter this morning at 3am and take him to a coronary care unit on the mainland. Keep crying when I think how amazing they are. My Mum went too and said it was so surreal, esp as they had to don survival suits in case they had to ditch in the sea... So lucky to have the resources we do in this country.

Smile

Hope your dad gets better soon. I'll pass you thanks on to dh, same service , different branch!

The seach and rescue guys are real national treasures...out local one flys when it is too dangerous for the air ambulance Shock Those guys have real guts.

hope your dad gets better soon. Nice to hear someone say something positive about this country too! Smile

Martianbishop - he has been across before by air ambulance but they won't fly at night (as you say, too dangerous). So this time it was the Sea King.

Someone from our islands actually had a baby on the Sea King a couple of years ago!

Where are you, MB?

East Midlans, but like you I don't want to say too much! Grin

It will not be ours that went out to you.

They are great guys. What dh does is so safe in comparison. When the chips are down the RAF is superb at coping with the most awful situations.

Hope that your dad gets better soon

dinny · 04/04/2006 12:49

thanks, MB. Smile he's in the best place possible now, thank goodness. very emotional about his rescue atm. obviously.
