Ds has two pumps. He has a steriod one and a preventative one.

The instructions was to use the brown preventative one 1 - 2 times a day and the blue steriods one when he is coughing - twice a day.

Ds has a really chesty cough at the moment so have used the blue one. Do you give both the brown one and the blue one at the smae time?

I hope this makes sense!!!!

hi
my dd2 has both inhalers and she takes the blue one first and the brown one after, both before she goes to school, and afterwards. Hope this makes sense.

Agree with Katetee. My little one has two inhalers. A brown and a blue one. He takes the blue first to open up his little airways (to stop the wheezes and spasms) He then takes the preventative one (the steroid one) that hopefully reduces the imflammation in the airways.
Do double check with your GP or practice nurse that you are giving them correctly.

Mine has the brown one moring and night (when asthma is bad) and in the summer we go down to once a day and then cut it out all toghether (on the advice of the asthma nurse....dom't do this on your own IYSWIM). He only gets the blue one when he gets an asthma atack....normaly after we visit friends with a dog or cat. We give it to him straight away, we don't wait to the next 'brown' dose.

the brown one is probably beclamethosone (becotide) and is the steroid one .. its a preventative .. it should be used consistently

the blue one (salbutomal or ventolin) is the reliever

it is fine to take both together .. sometimes people say to take a puff of blue followed by your brown because the blue opens the airways and makes the brown get where it needs to be
