Hi there, sorry to hear of your problem. I peaked in your thread as I have a few friends with same issue but that's due to polycystic ovaries.

I think the best thing you can do is return to your doctor and explain that this has happened since you went on the pill and that it's really upsetting you. There are loads of different types of pill and one I know of called dianette actually reduces facial and other body hair (and spots!). It's probably one they wouldn't consider straight off as it's more expensive to prescribe than standard pills but obviously you'll get it for free. You, and anyone else, should have been made aware by the doc in the first place that this is a possibile side effect and to come back if it happened but sadly they don't all remember that us public don't have their medical training.

Good luck :)

womanfire, I am too much of a coward to wax but use a combination of jolen bleach and a silkymit on my tache. Jolen only works if you are fair skinned as otherwise you have a yellow tache Grin. The silky mitt is a bit like sandpaper - they make a special one for the face. You rub it over your facial hair and it comes off in a sort of powder.

Definitely tell GP about this and get pill changed.

I have a few odd hairs on my chin , but have been snipping them off or plucking them when they get longer- they are quite thick. I worry than if i use that mit they might all grow back even stronger? What do you think?. There seems to be more and more though lately!

I've always been a tad hairy - family thing. calmed down when preganant and while BF, but when DD slapped the boob away (11 months)the hairs on my face went mental!!!!! Must be hormone related, but the Docs won't take it sersiously! Don't shave, a good pair of tweezer will help with hairs on chin, but will need to used daily. A small pair of scissors may help with upper lip, but it does depend on colour of hair.

Any wax strips (for face) will do, best to do after period. TBH it does smart, but not for long. don't do it before you go out as you'll end up with red marks. when i was braver use to like the wax that you melted, as it felt nice when you put it on your face, but can be tricky to take off. You wouldn't have to do it too often, if you use tweezers to help maintain inbetween.

there are creams you can use, similar to stuff you put on legs, but I had to stop using these as they didn't last long, and it never felt right afterwards.

A friend swears by electroysis - but you have to let it grow, but does say it's permenant. You can also get laser treatment - pricy!

Do go to the docs, but please don't worry there are plenty of hairy ladies out there. Hoping to get pregnant again - so face feels normal again.

I waxed my moustache once - hurt like a $%&*£$% !! - now I just use hair removal cream specially for facial hair (at Boots)- works really well -

katyrocks · 03/04/2006 22:06

womanfire, definitely sounds hormonal. i would go with liquidclocks, i had heard about dianette too, for acne. doc said it works for excess hair as well, but i didn't have that, just the spots, so he wouldn't give me it. huh! (probably cost related Wink

I have found NADS wax very good - no messing around with heating up the wax and they have this really good applicator wand thing that you can use on your eyebrows.
