To want my frigging voice back

Caught a nasty cold/cough off my DS a couple of months back. Lost my voice about 3 weeks ago and still can't find it.

Where do you think it could be

Seriously though has anyone lost their voice for this long before and it just took a while to come back.

I've got job interviews this week and sound like a drag queen

Hold hands up and admit to shamelessly posting this in AIBU for traffic reasons and will now get it moved to "health"

I'm just so desperate I'd drink my own urine if someone told me it would help

I've been to the GP twice now and yes, it's laryngitis but don't know of anyone where it's lasted this long and nan died of throat cancer so probably just having a bit of a wobbler and wanting someone anyone to tell me that they lost their voice for longer than a few days.

I completely lost mine last week. I wasn't particularly ill, a little cough. Left for work sounding like a drag queen, an hour and 30 mins commute later I start to talk to someone in the kitchen at work and was shocked that my voice had completely gone!

My mum had something similar to what your describing OP. Her voice was gone for just under 3 weeks and all the doctors could say that it was laryngitis as there were no other symptoms.

Resting your voice is perhaps the only thing you can do. Not the easiest I know but if you work in an environment where you have to talk a lot, see if you can be signed off just so you can rest it and lots of fluids to keep it well lubricated.

I lost mine for two weeks in my late teens. It was very annoying, I could only speak in a whisper. I had to carry a pen and paper round when I needed to say something important.
