Indeterminate breast lump - awaiting core biopsy results.

Hi I am 40 years old, a wife and mum to 3 lovely young boys. 10 days ago I had a screening mammogram due to family history of cancer. I was called back to the breast clinic on Thursday where they did further mammograms, ultrasound and then 2 core biopsies. One lump they are almost sure is benign and the other indeterminate - I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS. I am beside my self with worry and am so scared. I have an appointment tomorrow to get my full results. Does anyone know if this means it is malignant etc. Any advice would be most grateful.
Thanks
Bernadette

Pop over to the Tamoxifin thread really lovely helpful bunch of ladies.
I had a core biopsy done last year and they helped me though the 7 day wait.

hello Bernadette- I think it means that they can't tell whether it's malignant or benign from the screening, but the core biopsy should tell what it is. Chances are it's benign as most lumps are - but quite understand your anxiety - it's very scary. If you'd like a bit of hand holding from people who've been through this then pop to the tamoxifen thread...
remember,if it is anything nasty it'll be treated very speedily - treatment is all very doable, promise.
tamoxifen here

Fingers crossed for you OP. I'm going to the breast clinic on Thursday for a lump and am flitting between convinced its nothing and its cancer.
Worrying times for you but its good that its been picked up now for you and even if it is malignant my understanding is that it is generally very treatable.

9 out of 10 referrals to Breast Clinics turn out to be nothing, so the odds are still good. Bernadette, indeterminate might mean anything, but it still could mean benign (lovely word!). Hope you're not too sore after your biopsies.

awaywego, good luck to you too. Even if either of you do get bad news, BC is usually treatable these days. MAS is right, Tamoxifen thread's a great place to hang out. Smile
