Found out you can get paracetamol suppositories here

Doc said ds couldn't have ibuprofen because he was dehydrated, on antihystamines and could get kidney damage. He can't have calpol etc. because of the colourings/flavourings/sweetener. He had a temp of 40 so I told her she could give me the dosage of tablet and I would cut it up and give it with jam.

Miraculously she then suggested suppositories - 3 bloomin years I have waited. Argh.

Anyway following a 3 hour wait while the pharmacy got some in especially (my lovely cleaner looked after ds while I went back) I popped one in and he is now heaps better.

He was not impressed though and I had to phone the pharmacist so she could tell him he wouldn't bleed out of his bottom Blush. Still he would have been less impressed with chewing the tablet up.

Glad you got a solution at last
How old is ds?

My GP thought I was a bit mad when I asked for a prescription (you can buy them OTC but they are expensive)
It is the way that paracetamol is quickest absorbed and you can give a accurately mesured dose without spillage or pink stains.
I totally prefere them now!
(the chap is walking with a bit of a limp thoughWink, dp says he looks like a broken man!!!)

I get mine (and ask friends to bring them) from abroad. They are easily available and much cheaper.

Anyone know why they are so expensive in the UK.

ar a guess i wouls say supply and demand is no where near what it is abroad.
It is the route of choice in france

Now done 2, and then reread the packet and I've been putting them in the wrong way - it just made sense to me to pop in the pointy end first. Oh well.

Ds still not impressed.

And it makes so much sense if you are (or may) vomit - because at least then you know you have the full dose. Not much use if you have the runs I would imagine.

We used them a lot on dd as a baby - she isn't so compliant now and ds never was, so tended to keep some Calpol for him. From memory they are around £5 a packet in Switzerland and free if prescribed (on Health Insurance). Also they come in different strengths.

We got 50 of the little bullets - which is 2.5 packets. Given that these things usually get packaged in about $10-15 worth - that quite a prescription haul. Can't see me trying one (well actually it would have to be 4 - which is quite offputting).
