I am totally exhausted, i was fine up until this week, dd is 10 weeks & i was doing fine until this week.
I feel totally exhausted to the point where i physically ache & feel i can not do one thing more, i have just cried to dp because its not even as if i am running around all day, i just dont understand why all of a sudden i feel like this?

Have i been on a high & this is my come down since the birth of DD? Is this normal to feel like this?

The only new thing i think of what i am taking is "Yasmin" the contraceptive pill could this be making me feel like this?

I just cant not go on like this, dd is sleeping through the night & has been since about 6 weeks so not even broken sleep!

I just can not go on like this help me please Sad

My sympathies with you. It is exhausting having a new baby even if they are sleeping through. After the initial surge of hormones which helps you through to start with, it often comes upon you later. But you could be anaemic. Have you been checked out by your GP?

I have been to my 6-8 week check & all seemed ok, how do they tell if you are anemic?

A bllod test to be certain, but can get an idea by pulling down your lower eyelid and seeing if it is really pale. There was a thread about this recently, try searching threads with anaemia in the title.

Have you considered it may be thyroid related? There are lots of threads on thryoid here - I had the same symptoms as you. Mainly tired and aching. I also had poor concentration, constipation, headaches. What a glorious list of symptoms. Anyway Health Visitor suspects hypothyroidism and GP has done blood tests. Will find out next week. Might be worth checking can be quite common post partum. Search under hypothryroidism. Hope you feel better soon.

suzywong · 31/03/2006 13:40

yes yes yes get your thyroid levels checked!

loads of threads on it, most of which feature me spouting the wonders of thryoxene

The good news is you can get your life back

Oh sounds like it could be thyroid as i also have the symptons bluedog mentions, poor concentration, headaches, i also seem to be putting on weight which is really getting me down as i hardly eat.

Health visitor is on holiday but i have doctors on wednesday so am going to mention it as this is really getting me down now, i feel like a zoombie, but i can not sleep as Ds has soooooo much energy!

Off to do a search on Mn thanks for the info Smile

You say you hardly eat - maybe you should think about a healthy diet plan to get you eating properly. If you don't eat properly you will tired and headachey. Might be that simple.

just because your baby sleeps through the night doesn't mean you wouldn't feel tired .. you have spent a year putting your body through huge strain making a baby and giving birth to it and nurturing it .. it'll take a year to get back to normal

of course you're tired .. totally natural

look at your diet

get your bloods checked .. hb and thyroid

take a good multivitamin and get some fresh air / exercise every day (like a walk)

good luck mts

Or you might just be going down with something fluey.
Rest as much as you can (hard I know), eat lots of fruit and nice warm drinks, and get your dp to take over as much as he can. (He will develop ways of managing the baby even if he hasn't got there yet.)
The first 10 weeks with a new baby is exhausting, even if it's going well - you might feel like you're not doing much because you're sitting down a lot of the day, but there is constant pressure of a kind you're not used to, so it's bound to catch up with you eventually.
Hope you feel better soon.
