Molluscum - any treatment suggestions please?

DS1 (nearly 11) has molluscum rashes on his thigh, chest and back and is quite heavily infected. The doctor has said that we just have to wait for it to go away of its own accord which can take up to 2 years or in some cases into teenage years. I am keen to get rid of these spots as soon as possible and we are willing to try any remedies. I'm a bit wary of popping all the spots as there are so many of them and have been told that this can cause scarring. Any other ideas? We don't have a lot of money so paying for a full consultation with a homeopath might be out of our reach. Is there anything that can be bought off the shelf? (and if so do you swallow it or rub it on?)

my dd had them very mild but still horrible to look at, we were told to leave them alone and they would disappear and they have, they came last 6 weeks holidays and they were all gone by Easter this year. ds has now got them, also very mild and they seems to be going already.

Its easy to say leave them alone when its very mild, as my 2 had them on their chest so they werent on show, but if there bad, its hard to ignore them.

My ds had this when he was 12, a couple of years ago, the whole of his right arm was covered from shoulder to wrist, for several months, a fortnight in the Mediterranean Sea on our summer hols and they started to go of their accord, so maybe the sea salt in the bath is a good idea!

My DS has it ATM. Started as 3 on his tummy and 1 came off and bled. Has a few on his elbow and back of his leg.

Was at GP for another reason and was told the same about leaving them. Not got anymore but those he has have not fine either. Luckily he's not bothered so just leaving them for now.

Will be using some ideas from the is thread if they spread though.

I second Bettybloo's comment about swimming in the sea clearing these up. Both DC had these badly on separate occasions for months - they cleared up within days of starting seaside holidays. Not necessarily very practical in February though.
