Hello all.
My poor dd2 has been covered in this since Friday. I took her to G.P then who did question me about white spots in mouth (measles) and felt her glands (rubella) but rules both out. He said if i think she's worse or am worried to see him again.
Well she's had temperature of over 100 during the weekend and slept alot and is very clingy but as he said it's probably viral, i haven't rushed her back.
Now i'm wondering though, it's 3 days on nowSad Any ideas?

It could be just the virus that's causing it - many viruses can cause rashes in children.

SomethingAboutMary · 27/03/2006 14:13

Not sure if this could be the case but i thought i rememeber when my ds was younger he was ill with a virus & he aslo got a rash on his chest, the doctor told me sometimes children get this well poorly could it be that, does she have the rash all over? how old is she?

SomethingAboutMary · 27/03/2006 14:13

ds (2) has just had a rash part way through a heavy cold. It was everywhere except his arms and legs. It lasted for 2 days, wasn't itchy and he wasn't bothered by it. I put it down to a virus too.

WigWamBam · 27/03/2006 14:22

They can last three or four days, usually while the temperature is at its highest. Hope she feels better soon.

Orinoco · 27/03/2006 21:56

It didn't start on her body, then spread up to her face and then down her arms over about 24 hours did it? Does it look like little pink individual spots? If so, my dd2's got it and everyone keeps telling me it's chicken pox, due to my sister probably having it and being in contact with her 10 days ago... but dd2's rash hasn't blistered Sad

Hope your dd2 feels better soon Sad

Angeliz · 27/03/2006 22:00

Sad Orinoco, hope your dd2's better soon too.
Actually dd's rash just came out all over her body overnight, i noticed it the next day when i was changing her in the morning. She's had chicken pox quite strongly so i don't think it could be that again. Her temperature was down today so i'm hoping the rash will have gone by tomorrow too!

DD had a rash after a high temperature. We were only holiday and ended up at Newquay Hospital where we saw a lovely doctor, who said it was viral and prescribed Piriton, which had sorted it out within a day.

Go with your gut instinct. Our doctors never mind seeing us if I'm worried, they say they'd rather do that and everything be OK, than me not go when I should have.

Hope she's better soon.

Angeliz, ds' rash has this afernoon turned into a few big spots on his cheeks, groin and backs of knees. Weird. Apart from a hacking cough he still seems ok.

Hope we all get a good night's sleep!

Angeliz · 27/03/2006 22:20

Yes dd has a red spots on her face that come and go.
Hope your ds gets better soon too!

Am off to bed SHATTERED!+++++++

Angeliz, on the bright side, a rash is usually the last part of the immune system flush out so with any luck she'll start to get better soon.

Orinoco · 28/03/2006 12:35

Does \link{http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/roseola/DS00452/DSECTION=2\this} sound like it?

Angeliz · 28/03/2006 12:49

That does sound like it Orinoco. Thanks.
She still has it today but the only other lingering symptom is tiredness, Not at 2 a.m sadly, just in the day!Smile
