Constantly ill kids - I think I'm losing the plot!!

The kids have been ill for so long now, I can't even remember when it started. It's been weeks now, probably since before February half term.

It started with the sickness bug, which the eldest 3 had in succession. Few days back at school and they went down with the flu thing, including the baby. Dd2 was so rough the Doctor sent us to the hospital with her. Dd1 went back to school for a couple of days and came down with an ear infection, finally went back to school on Friday and is off again today with another sickness bug which dd1 had over the weekend.

I am sick of changing beds, clearing up puke, dishing out calpol and antibiotics, not being able to go anywhere.

Ds2 has been in contact with my niece who has chicken pox and no doubt that will appear in time for the easter holidays.

They've all lost weight and generally look rough as shite. I don't look too great either, unfortunately I haven't lost any weight though!

I'm seriously tempted to just keep them all off school and nursery this week and hope that by the time the holidays are over they will be well again.

Over a year ago I had a similiar experience - all kids sick one after the other & dh had pnumonia. It was rivers of sick - constant washing & I felt rough. Took awhile to get back to feeling ok. Just to send support to you xxx

Poor you - I guess their immunity must have taken a bashing. I do know how you feel, both of mine seem to have a lot of time off school compared with other kids. So much so that there is no question of me being able to go out to work while they're at school. I have tried it and it was sooooo .. stressful. I sometimes feel like a prisoner too .. and it's supposed to be easier once they're at school! Worse for you as you have a baby as well. Hope they get better soon. I don't know how contagious chicken pox is but I know that my DD1 played with friends all afternoon who then went down with it and she didn't get it.

My two have been ill more or less constantly since christmas, with the odd illness that DH and I have had thrown in for good luch. Started with conjuctivitis on christmas day, still going at the moment with my youngest who has had diarrohea since yesterday.

Hope the general health of our family improves with the warmer weather.

Poor you , I know how you feel. DD barely seems to have got over one thing before she starts another. At least with us it's been coughs and colds rather than puking though - but it seems to have been going on since before christmas.

I've been working just over a month and seem to have had to prevail on (also permanently sick) mother to come and hold the fort every few days.

i'd hoped half term would sort us all out but no chance - I think your idea of keeping them off this week is a pretty good one actually!

Rickman, totally sympathise - and I've only got 2 to look after!

dd, nearly 5, has missed over four weeks of school this term thanks to various infections - I think she's never really recovered from the flu bug which was the first thing she got. At least she can tell me what's wrong, poor ds is too young and just cries and moans a lot Sad.It's bad enough during the day but they both keep waking up at night too.

I know it's expensive but echinacea for children might help buuild up their immune systems, also Floradix Kindervital.

Mmmm, keeping them off school does seem a good idea, gives them a chance to build their immunity. Which they havent had a chance to do with going to school all the time.

I really, really hate clearing up sick as well. I'm afraid I shouted at dd1 when she was sick last night, she managed to do it all over ds1, the bed, the carpet, everywhere. I had to give ds1 a shower in the middle of the night, scrub the floor and the bed and I'm knackered.
