...I'm absolutely terrified! I'm really, really scared of the anaesthesia (sp?) as I've had bad experiences in the past. I can't help but wonder if these are the last hours of my life! sounds stupid, I know but I'm sad & scared.

The risks associated with GA are low, I assume you've discussed your previous bad experiences under GA with your consultant/surgeon ?

quelsouci · 25/03/2006 20:00

I had a terrible experience in Paris with GA about 16 years ago. I was conscious but unable to move a muscle -- completely paralysed for a few dreadful minutes. I understand why it happened now but at the time I thought I was paralysed for life. It was terrifying. The epidurals for my 2 dc didn't go at all well, especially with the 1st when I was induced & then when that didn't work, put on oxytocin for 11 hours. I was delivered by emergency c-section & vomited repeatedly. The docs couldn't sew up my flaccid uterus & I lost a great deal of blood.

I should know better than to moan about something stupid on MN.

Good luck and "happy new boobs"Wink

come back and let us(well deffo) me know how it goes

SleepySuzy · 25/03/2006 20:19

I would be scared too tbh, but as NDP says, it is low risk. You are very brave, and I wish I had the guts to do it. Are you having it on NHS?

beansprout · 25/03/2006 20:20

I have always been more scared of the GA than anything directly related to the procedure. It will be fine, but do talk through your concerns. I was terrified during my c-section but it was the anaethetist that got me through it.

Best of luck. Smile

throckenholt · 25/03/2006 20:21

have you talked through your fears and experiences with the aneasthetist ? It would be worth doing that before you have the op.

I once heard on the radio a surgeon say if he had to trust his life to any other specialist it would be an aneasthetist.

Hope things go well for you on Monday.

bossykate · 25/03/2006 20:23

hi there

is there any chance you will be able to discuss your fears with the anaesthesiologist beforehand? in any event, your medical history, including your previous experiences, should be taken prior to the op?

see if you can have a chat with someone on monday morning beforehand.

sorry not to be more help.

good luck Smile

It's all done & I'm still here! Smile A gorgeous 34/36B (still swollen), not even a hint of a droop. Wow! Now I've got to get my tummy into shape. Diet & exercise, not surgery.

I'm still really out of it, though & feel (& look) exhausted. I think I was over-drugged but anyway, it will pass.

Our health insurance covered it, otherwise we'd never have been able to afford it.

Thanks to all who replied to my worried posts!

glad to hear it went well hun.

If you dont mind me asking what size where you before hand?

Our medical insurance won't cover my breast reduction unfortunatly hence the reason I still have 7lb to loose.

Can't wait till I get mine done and have "normal" sized boobs

Flamesparrow · 31/03/2006 15:17

Oooh I'm Envy I'm only a 34/36 F but they are just so bloody heavy and inconvenient. Think about shopping and buying tops with little straps to go with your pretty dainty bras! Grin

quelsouci · 02/04/2006 20:06

Oh, I know! Spaghetti strap tops! Can't WAIT to go shopping. I've waited 8 years for this & now will enjoy it to the max.

I was a 38DD. Not so bad for most but too much for my small frame. And after 2 dc, they drooped so much I felt I could fling them over my shoulders! What a relief to have little titties!
