I'm not sure if dd has cp or not...
She doesn't have a temperature and is fine in herself, although a bit whingy but this is random and we put it down to us moving house this weekend. She's a bit more tired than usual- she just fell asleep sitting in her chair Shock. Last night she had some little spots on her bottom and they are still there now. I don't think they've spread but a couple seem a bit bigger and darker. I don't think it's nappy rash as they're at the top of her nappy. No other part of her body has them but she has got some very dry skin patches, which I don't think are related.
Any adive on what this sounds like would be much appreciated. I was under the impression that if it was CP they would have spread much faster and further but I could be wrong. She's 2 and goes to nursery but there haven't been any outbreaks recently- they always let us know!

(I know there have been loads of CP threads and I did search but couldn't find apecific symptoms)

I often wonder if my kids have got CP as they often come up in unusual rashes. The CP spots will have a small blister in the centre. Some children suffer it very mildly so don't have many spots.

brimfull · 25/03/2006 12:42

well kids get varying degrees of cp from covered in spots to only a few.THe spots will blister by tomorrow if not sooner and will look like they are filled with fluid.

My ds was covered when he woke up one morning ,my dd had about 10 spots!

MadameDeMars · 25/03/2006 12:48

DT2 was covered in spots, DT1 had one on her shoulder.

Keep an eye on them. If they blister then it's chickenpox, otherwise it's just another of those rashes.

Thanks.

She's now itching and saying it's sore and also has a couple on her tummy. SOunds more like CP now...?
It can't be!!! We're moving house on MOnday and she HAS to go to nursery.
Any chance it could be something else?
If it is, what's the best thing to stop the itching?
TY

they do appear on the torso first so it's looking likelySad

eurax cream is good, get it in chemist

homeopathic remedy, can't rmrmber the name,is also good, worked for ds.

Also try an antihistamine at night like piriton or zirtek

A bath with oats (muslin with oats )

hth

MadameDeMars · 25/03/2006 17:36

benadryl which you can get from the chemist is brilliant and also piriton syrup. Much better than calamine.

Hayls · 25/03/2006 18:50

Thanks. I took her to the pharmacy who said it's not CP but I'm not convinced. She hasn't scratched it much for a while and the spots have gone down a good bit. A coupl elook as though the head's come off as they're a bit red and inflamed but no real pus-yet. We looked closely and she seems to have a bit of rappy nash so it could be spreading from that. Anyway she gave me some piriton and canesten for the rash so fingers crossed. The woman seemed to think that because it wasn't on her torso or face it wasn't cp... (it's at the very bottom of her back, just at the nappy line iyswim.

It is obviously that time of year - I just came onto MN to ask the collective experience of the MNers as to whether my DD (2 next Saturday) has CP.

Has had one spot on her neck, since Wed evening, which looked like a blister on Thurs morning. Nothing else, although she had been shattered on Wed night and a bit moany, with what looked like heat rash on her tummy and back (but this was gone by morning). I have to admit that I sent her to nursery assuming if they thought it was CP they would contact me. As no more spots appeared I put it down to something else, but this afternoon I noticed another blister at the top of her leg. Could this be CP? Can you have it so mildly?

Normally wouldn't mind, but I have to send her to nursery on Tues, as I have to go away with work for the night, and DH has an important meeting that he can't miss, so he can't take the day off either. Theoretically, if the spot on her neck is related, then it appeared on Wed night, so her 5 days off nursery would have started then, so I should be able to send her her back to nursery on Tues - but do I want to admit that I possibly sent her on Thurs and Fri with CP? Help, any advice? Sorry for going on so long - always write as I talk!!

Can I hijack this thread? DD2's developed a rash this evening, all over her torso, little pink dots (but no blisters..yet!). She doesn't seem ill at all. My sister rang me about 8 days ago to say she thought she had cp as she'd got some spots on her torso that had blistered, but they disappeared within a few days (she did have cp as a baby but only very mildly)

I know the only way to tell is by waiting till tomorrow, but what do you reckon? Should I send dh to the late night chemist just in case?

(how's your dd now, Hayls?)

brimfull · 25/03/2006 21:20

orinoco, yours does sound suspiciously like cp,you'll probably find they blister soon. There isn't pus it's a watery looking blister. It will eventually turn into a scab. When all the blisters have scabbed that's when it's no longer contagious. It is at it's most contagious the day before the spots appear.

Don't know if only one or two spots that haven't blistered yet sounds like cp.If they blister it def is,despite the tiny amount of spots.Bear in mind that some kids may catch it again if they've had a really mild dose.

Orinoco, you may not need to send dh out tonight ,have you got some piriton or similar?

Orinoco · 25/03/2006 21:23

Smile thanks ggirl. Sorry for the hijack hayls

Hayls · 26/03/2006 13:33

SOunds like I'm not alone in my panicking! It looks like it isn't Cp, although we don't know what it is! The spots haven't changed or spread since they first appeared- if anything they've gone down a bit. She's got a vest on so can't get at them but hasn't been bothered about itching them anyway. She's still quite tired but I think this is because she's been waking earlier because it's been lighter this week.
I guess it is just some kind of rash. She has had some sensitivites to nappies in the past but has been OK for a few months now so I assumed it was nothing to do with that. I could be -and probably am- wrong though!
Thanks all
