Starting to get a bit worried :/

I woke up Monday morning with what felt like a pulled hamstring and calf muscle. Not sure why it would have been sore as I had done nothing that would of caused it. Was fine on the Sunday evening,

Anyway, I have been taking co-dydramol and nurofen for the pain on and off. It was always worse in the morning, once I had been walking around it seemed to loosen up and then be ok.

It hurts now and again when I am sitting/ driving so would shift weight on to other side more.

This morning it is 10 times worse. It fells like the muscles (especially calf) are rock hard, with pond and needles at the same time. When I stand I feel wobbly as if there is no strength in that leg anymore.

I thought any muscle strain would have been on the mend by now?

I'd there anything else it could be?

Bit if history- I have a weak back due to twin pregnancies, pulled muscles a few times, but of hop pain. This had always been on the right hand side of back/hip though, this time it is left leg.

Maybe a bit more rest? Or do you think doctor time now?

Otherwise feel fine.....maybe just s bit headachey than usual.

Thanks for reading.

mama just enlightening you! It is not potentially fatal like DVT but can be life changing if the nerve entrapment causes permanent damage. And unfortunately it often gets missed as not so serious by GPs etc and by the time it is identified, the damage has been done. I am only going on about it as I know of so many people who have permanent foot droop or leg parasthesia due to it being left too long. Hope I did not sound curt. If I did Sorry!

Good luck at A&E. I shall come back later to see how you are. take your laptop or phone so you can update us!

Oh no, it's good to know! I had absolutely no idea! I stupidly thought that maybe a nerve would be ok til gp surgery opening tomorrow morning hence why op was reticent to go (also presuming she lived miles away with no car) & if it was DVT it would be ambulance-worthy. As she has past experience. I'm Blush in case I've given the op the wrong end of the stick. Thanks Pavlov.

And op good for you for going. To be fair if you are so close then you've no excuse. I thought you were hours away from a&e Grin Keep us posted.

Looks to be a badly pulled hamstring, iced and bandaged and some rest. Ibuprofen and see how it is in a few days. The calf muscle is getting sore-contracting due to the way I am walking/moving because of the hamstring.

If it becomes more painful or I start feeling poorly then straight back round to a&e.

Still have no idea how I would of done this though....maybe I 'sleep jog'!

Thanks for all your replies. :)

glad you got checked out, how very peculiar that you did this in your sleep, but obv at least it's nothing too serious, touch wood. hope you feel more comfortable soon.

awaywego1 · 30/09/2012 20:40

Glad your ok and sorry if my "it's a DVT" scared you-was in a rush but gla you got it checked out anyway.
Rest up Smile

Pavlovthecat · 30/09/2012 21:32

glad it is not serious and hope you feel better soon. Much better this way than you fretting it was something else, peace of mind means it is never a wasted journey to A&E.
