Has anyone got any experience of these injections alongside hrt?

This is what is being offered to me or a total hysterectomy for beyond bonkers periods

I have had a failed ablation and tried all the meds. Not sure I want 6 months of drugs but I do need to consider it. Thanks.

Sorry I do not know that medication. But if ovaries ok you should keep them as they provide you with your hormones. Without them you will need HRT

Thanks for coming back to me. I suffer from dreadful pmt every 2.5/3 weeks. The hysterectomy is happening due to heavy periods. What I don't want to find is me thinking in a year that I wish I'd had the whole lot done. Pmt is getting worse sadly.

The hysterectomy will get rid of heavy periods, as you will not get periods.
PMT is due to hormone changes, but you must consult an expert about this, as in theory your hormone changes during the month would continue if you still have your ovaries. But I have no practical knowledge of this .
My experience is that going on the contraceptive pill got rid of my PMT and heavy painful periods. You only need HRT if your ovaries are not working properly, diseased , or you've had them out. If ovaries working properly, you will not need HRT after a hysterectomy. If you are already booked for a hysterectomy, you must ask these questions with your specialist.

hi digerd. I have asked and it is my decision. What I don't want to do is find myself in a years time thinking I wish they'd taken my ovaries too as the PMT is continually getting worse. The op is significantly worse having your ovaries removed and it will mean HRT for 10 years.

The injection which I can try for 3 months will tell me what my body is likely to do if the ovaries are removed - a trial run if you like but I was wanting to hear from someone who has acutally used it.
