My DH has been told he needs a hip replacement. He's only 43, very sporty and devastated. We've heard about hip resurfacing - just wondered had anyone one ?

  1. Different Lawsuits are Circulating here in the U.S regarding
"Hip Replacements". I chose to have the "Super Cushion" stuff Shot into my Bare Hip bone,(the bone ends are Grinding together). Now I walk without Pain-everyone else is in a wheel- chair,in pain, and they are Involved in those "Class Action" suits. I'm just sayin...Jill.

Fwiw poppy if he ends up with the replacement option it's a huge success and my DM has climbed mountains every week since having hers (both) done 20 years ago. Obv the technology is even more amazing now. Try not to worry... yes look at options but be assured that the outlook is good.

My husband had his done 18 months apart. he too is very sporty and fit. Was in a lot of pain and discomfort before, now he is 100 percent improved

Relative had his hips resurfaced years ago, he's back to full fitness as a farmer

Based on my dh's experience, its best to get another opinion, pref at a specialist orthopaedic hospital who are able to offer more than just joint replacements.
Hip replacements are brilliant, but at 43 and sporty, he's going to wear through it faster, and every replacement after the first is harder and harder, so its worth doing everything to try and push the first one till later
