hi

dd2 is 17 months and for the past couple of weeks ive noticed she has a little 'twitch' of her right shoulder, she kinds of 'shrugs' the one shoulder 2 or 3 times, maybe every hour or so. ive just been kind of quietly watching, dh is getting more worried.

TIA

ds1 has had really annoying twitches or tics for years now. He is 12 and we have seen them less and less recently.

There was a time from the age of about 4 when every so often he would go through spells whether it be his eyes blinking rapidly or squeezing them tightly together. Then another time he would wink and do a half grin on the same side of his face. Sometimes he does little grunting sounds under his breath.

It really annoyed dh and me and there were times when we would tell him off for it but this seemed to make it worse. These days we just say "oi ds1, you're blinking, grunting, winking, whatever". Then he stops. Distraction helps too whilst ignoring the twitch, I found.

Annoying though isn't it?

I was actually going to ask about this tonight!

my dd (3 in may) has started almost humming, but kind of like clearing her throat. she doesn't seem to know she's doing it. It is when she's not talking, and is sometimes when eating too.It is so tempting to tell her to stop it but i know it will make her pananoid and make it worse. I was a twitchy child (and hated being like it) so i don't want this for her. what if it doesn't stop - will she get teased? or will it get knocked out oher as she gets older?

My son has a twitch in his hands some bizarre advice we were given was to get him to conciously twitch once he started eventually the brain will go give up its tiring me out I hate this and a pattern of reversal should begin.I have to say as off the wall as it sounds it really does work.
