I had an MRI of the head but forgotten about my copper coil!

There was a list of things which I did not have in my body. I completely forgot about the copper coil. Does anybody know if the MRI can have an impact on the coil or vice versa?
Thank you.

No, the MRI scanner is just a huge magnet, and I don't think copper is magnetic. The images were of your head also, so the coil wouldn't have affected them at all.

LadySybildeChocolate, you are right. I did call them a few minutes ago just in case as I do not know what else is present in that coil. They said that I should not worry about it. Should have called them before posting it.

Smile No worries. I hope everything is OK.

I hope too :)
I have read this info on the internet "the pictures can be affected by movement so they aren't used very often for some tumours because coughing, swallowing or breathing will make the scan less clear." While I did not move I did of course swallow and tried too hard to keep my eyes shut at the beginning of the scan. That was a strange experiece.

I had one a few years ago (I also trained as a radiographer for a while). Movement does affect the images they get, which is why they put a cage over a patient's head to keep them still. Coughing/swallowing/breathing wouldn't be a problem for brain scans though, brains don't breathe! Wink

Thank you LadySybildeChocolate. I would think that breathing does not affect but sneezing could as you shake the head, even when coughing. I have read that in some cases the patients are being asked not to breethe in those moments where a particular image is needed.

On a CT scan they are asked to hold. Smile I hope all is well x
