Autumn colds

Only first week of september, and I already have a stinking cold. The sore throat, runny nose has gone, but I've still got the blocked nose, temperature and tight chest.

I'm mildly asthmatic, so chances are this will now hang around, go to my chest, and turn into a full blown chest infection by end of October. Last year, it took two lots of antibiotics to shake.

Any suggestions on how to stop thus annual cycle? Can't take vitamin C as I react badly to it, I'm taking a vitamin D supplement, and the chemist just suggested a berry supplement.

I'm trying to rest (some chance!), taking paracetamol when the temperature gets too much.

Any suggestions, please???

It's rubbish isn't it? I came down with one last Sunday and I'm now coughing and wheezing. Went to drs yesterday as I'm asthmatic too and left there with ABs, steroids and new inhaler!

I'm not sure what to suggest to stop the cycle but this is actually my first 'proper' cold since Jan which is quite good for me. I haven't really being doing much differently except that I did have the flu jab last October. Might be worth a go if you haven't before?

Other ideas that may help: Make sure you wash hands or use antibac gel regularly, avoid other people with colds when poss and try and eat lots of fruit and veg. You could also try taking something like Echinacaea.

Orange juice daily,a good quality one, like Tropicana.Expensive but does work.
reduced the family colds from 5 a year on average ,to 2 a year.
