i had this, of course i never called it dandruff (hoho), the doc called it seboeric (sp) dermatitis and prescribed me Nizoral shampoo. you can buy it in boots now too. It is bright pink and you use it once a week, leave it on for 5 mins then rinse out. totally got rid of flaky skin and gross druff on my shoulders!
i find lots of really perfumed shampoos aggravate it so i use aveda shamppo and condititoner the rest off the time as it is milder.
so, now everyone knows i am a minging dandruff queen - hoorah!

polytar shampoo works miracles, brown bottle, you can get it from large boots etc. smells of tar though.

DH uses T Gel

You can use well diluted Dettol - if you look on the back of the bottle, the instructions are there. (I know that sounds a bit bizarre!!!!)

Nizoral, the one you have to go to the pharmacy counter for (not the one on general sale which is a different (lower) concentration of the active ingredient IIRC and which didn't work for me). It's expensive but once you have cleared the dandruff you only have to use it every 1-2 weeks.

i use head and shoulders sensitive. works really well.

I have it at the moment and it comes off in clumps but i think that is because i used to wash it everyday and can only wash it every few days.

When I was in uk I used to get dandruff and used Body shop ginger shampoo.

Selsun is very effective. You use it a few times and then only have to use it if you notice it starting up again.

DH uses T Gel. If he misses one day, then it's back, so it's been a daily thing for the last 7 years now. It works wonders :) We recently found out he could get it on prescription (in Navy so free prescriptions :) :)), so it's worth asking your GP if you're entitled to free presciptions, as otherwise it's about £7 a bottle.
