How long do antibiotics take to work? Infection from coil.

Not sure if I should wait it out or what, I'm getting worse. Started antibiotics on Tuesday. Have small children and can't go to bed, so finding it quite hard to function.

Any advice on how long it'll take before i start to feel normal most welcome.

Antibiotics are not guaranteed to work at all. Each antibiotic has a group of infections that it works against and some that it does not. And some bacteria develop resistance. And, in addition, especially with internal infections, sometimes they need to be hit quite hard with intravenous antibiotics.

If you have a bacterial infection and are getting worse rather than better, your GP or A&E is the appropriate place to be, depending on the severity. If you are really struggling to function, I would get straight to A&E.

Thanks larrygrylls, maybe hard to function sounded too dramatic.

I wrote this after I'd done the school run, my eyes are too fuzzy to drive so I walked. It's not far, normally 10 mins walk, but took about 30 mins to walk home as I kept having to stop, I felt so dizzy. When home I felt so weary I sat on the kitchen floor as it is tiled and cool. I cried for ages before I posted, maybe hormonal from coil.

Anyway, since then I've had on Cbeebies and managed to cook the kids a simple dinner. My dh will be home soon, I can go to bed and if I still feel like this in the morning then I'll go back to my doctor. They suspected it was an infection but I wonder if it's the way my body is reacting to the coil. Something weird is happening anyway and I don't understand why my thumbs feel so weak and numb.
