...turned into a spotty monster?? She looks like a teenager! Lots of little red/yellowy tiny spots all over her face. She's not ill, just terribly unattractive.

please dont worry. it happened to my daighter too and they will go as suddenly as they appeared. HOnestly.

Milk spots......

Or wet eczma. But probably milk spots - are you b/feeding?

williamsmummy · 16/03/2006 13:09

lots of newborns get these spots, they dont last long and are perfectly normal.

iota · 16/03/2006 13:10

din't it happen to you other 2? I couldn't take ds1 into work to show him off until they'd gone Smile

serenity · 16/03/2006 13:11

Not aclue, but all mine did it too. It did go after a few weeks though.

Maybe it's baby self defence against all those strange people who insist on leaning into the buggy, poking and cooing at them? 'don't touch me wrinkly old granny lady, I HAVE THE LURGY!'

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/03/2006 13:11

the reason i ask is that b/feeding sometimes delays their appearance. Its hormone levels changing as your hormones start to leave them. Or something like that anyway.

They will go soon. Smile

Yes, I'm breastfeeding. DSs both had a few white spots but nothing like this teenaged spottiness - poor love! She started out with a few a couple of days ago but her face is now covered. They're nowhere else though so I'm not really worried (apart from being worried that people might think she's always this unattractive :o). Reassuring to know they'll just vanish.

Please don't tell me I have to cart her round looking like this for weeks though, Serenity :o I'll get thrown out of Ikea for having a disease ridden child with me!

All three of mine got this, although dd was def the worst - thinks it's also a hormonal thing - balancing things out in teeny bodies. Know what you mean about the unattractiveness - I had to restrain myself from attacking with clearasil and a bufpuf Grin. She will be a peachy baby again very soon, promise.

I did briefly consider exfoliating but what I can feel of her unblemished skin between the spots (and there's not much!) is still peachy soft so there is still hope for her.

Only a fortnight ago the cranial osteopath commented on how fantastic her skin was! Sob!

This happened to dd2 - I have heard a variety of reasons including a reaction to baby soap/shampoo. What seemed to work for us was aqueous cream. The spots disappeared almost right away.
