If so, do they cost a fortune? Which ones?

I use one of the Sanex range which is parben free, £1.99 for a large bottle of shower gel. Superdrug. Smile

The Faith in Nature range are good, if pricy. Some Oxfam shops sell them.

I have a horrible time with sodium laryl sulfate and stock up on avalon organics in the US when I can (insanely expensive in UK!).

I try not to use anything with parabens, SLS or silicone in it. They are now pretty easy to find and not expensive.

SLS concerns me more than parabens though.

green people

faith in nature

GobblersKnob · 03/09/2012 11:56

Liz Earle is anything but paraben free

I hate Liz Earle, it is so not what it is dressed up to be. It's owned by Avon ffs.

Totally agree that Green People stuff is fantastic though as is Faith in Nature.

I found a Vosene for kids shampoo/soap in the Savers chemist, it's about £1.30 and free from parabens, SLS etc. I use Jason shampoo as well. DD uses the Green People for kids shampoo and conditioner, it's fairly pricey, but one tube of shampoo lasts for months, you only need a tiny bit per wash (and we only wash her hair once a week) so it probably works out the same as a cheaper product.

I use Suma products which I buy from my local wholefood shop. The shampoo is around £5 but sometimes I just buy there handmade blocks of soap which I use for washing everything - face, body and hair. Each block is less than £2.

I make my own soap and shampoo bars, as I was having trouble finding sls and sles free stuff. I even make my own body butter and now no longer suffer with the psoriasis that covered most of my upper body. Within three weeks of using this butter I was clear and have been ever since Smile

nowwearefour · 04/09/2012 20:46

wow thismum. how do you make your own? does it take up much time? and do you have dc's and use it on them too?

I agree with BlackCountryWoman, I have been using the Faith In Nature range for a while now, you might not be able to find it in all of the large shops but it is easy to find online not that expensive compared to some others.

They go a lot further than not using parabens, they are also organic and never tested on animals. You can find out what goes in to all of their products on this page. www.faithinnature.co.uk/Faith-in-Nature/Natural-Ingredients-Issues

I like faith in nature too - I use the teatree shampoo and conditioner for my children and so far touch wood we've had no lice issues either.
