Would you have another baby?

Not sure where to post this? But any feed back would be appreciated.

I think I want another baby but am a bit scared! It would be my 3rd if I was lucky enough to get pregnant but with 1st DD I had a difficult birth and 3rd degree tear and 2nd DD easy lovely birth but still another 3rd degree tear, both were natural deliveries. Since 2nd DD I have ruptured a disc in my lower back and suffer with on off pain and sciatic pain in my left leg I am told my back problems are as a result of poor core strength following 2 pregnancies fairly close together. I have also been advised (by the doc who stitched me up 2nd time round) that it would be wise to have a c section if I were to have another child. The risks on my back if I were to have a section would probably increase as a section would affect my core strength, as would another pregnancy. So I just don't know, basically my heart is desperate to have another baby but my head says no! My husband is fairly supportive either way although his heart doesn't say have another baby but he'd go with it if I really wanted to!

Anyone's experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I think 3 close together would have tipped me over the edge! Leave a gap, go to the gym and build up those core muscles, do perineal massage in the later stages of pregnancy and go for it! (but I only had minor tears, so i don't know what it is like.)

Sorry, you were asking for experiences. I think my post might not have been very helpful. I hope someone more helpful comes along shortly to offer you some wisdom. Good luck.

I have one child and had a third deg tear after a long (induced) back to back labour. Left with an anal fissure and incredibly weak pelvic floor, and possible prolapse which means i can't walk for long, and I have had PND partially as a result. Was told I should have cs for future babies as I lost a lot of blood during the (forceps) delivery.

I won't be having another baby, no.

Hiya, how old are your children?
I have a little boy 16 months. It took a long time (nearly 4 years) to get pregnant.
I have a lot of health problems. Some include incomplete spinal cord injury, 3 past burst fractured vertebrate, spinal stenosis, degenerative discs and spondylyothesis, which cause excrutuating debilitating pain.

I take a lot of medication, the pain meds I take (and took through pregnancy) were morphine and fentanyl.

It indeed was a difficult pregnancy, alongside my cheats problems. I also had hyperemesis.
I had an elective c section at 39w. They weren't sure if the spinal anathestic would work. If didn't they would have to have given me a general.
It was horrible the c section. As soon as spinal anathestic went in, my heart went crazy, over 200 bpm, terrible chest pain, couldn't breathe, felt very sick, etc.
The anathestic also went too high, and I went numb from my shoulders down.
They tried giving me meds to slow down my heart. If that didn't work they would have had to have shocked it.

It was a very stressful and scary ordeal, I don't remember much.

I would like another child in the future, if I'm able to. Of course it does make me nervous about the complications.
They have offered me to go to antenatal clinic and speak to the consultants about my worries before (if possible) I get pregnant. Maybe you could do that?

Have you had any physio? If not ask for some to build up your muscles.
Maybe even hydrotherapy too.

Hi

Clockless I quite fancy keeping mine close together in age, getting it out the way all in one go and it is so nice for them to grow up close in age IMO.

Hairytale your birth sounds very traumatic thanks for sharing your experience. How old is your baby now?

Reenygip I take my hat off to you to have gone through your pregnancy with all that to contend with. My back problem pales in comparison but I realize comparisons are crazy. Pain is pain! I have had a year of physio 10 months of which was a waste of time as I was miss diagnosed with a pelvic problem (SI joint) it wasn't until I had an MRI that they realized I actually have a herniated disc hence my leg and foot issues! I have very little faith in doctors and physio's. I am now doing pilates once a week and to be honest it's my pilates exercises which are proving to be the most theraputic and I think will be the most helpful in years to come. I have wondered about asking to speak to the consultant I saw with the birth of baby 2. It's good to talk about this! Thank you!

Glad you have found that Pilates is helpful to you. Good luck in working out what to do next!
