Cranio sacral osteopathy - anyone tried it for thier baby

Hi - I had DD 22 days ago and she had quite a rough entrance to the world with my cervix refusing to dilate and the eventual need for forceps to help her into the world. She didn't sleep for the first few days at all and even now I am having trouble getting her to sleep especially during the day. Yesterday she basically did not sleep at all (apart from catnaps at the breast) I even went for a walk for an hour and she was awake throughout. She has had 2 1/2 hour sleeps today and has been asleep for the last 2 hours (about the longest she has slept during the day) She gets so exhausted that at night she will sleep for about 5 hours but I know she should be sleeping more and the evenings are tough as she is very cranky because she is so tired. It also makes her feed less effectively.

I have heard that Craniosacral osteopathy can be helpful. Has anyone tried it out? I would be interested in any feed back good or bad

I had a ventouse (4 attempts) and then a forceps delivery. My baby's head and face was covered in bruises, he spent 10 days having phototherapy as his body couldn't cope with the bruising. He rarely slept for more than a few hours. He was always screaming when awake and seemed to have a problem lying down flat. I was told to try osteopathy by my health visitor. He was about 4 months old. I was sceptical, but tried it anyway. It was a near miracle cure. By the second session he was like a different baby. I think we went about 6 times. The osteopath pointed out where he had a compression on his head and this apparent can lead to glue ear as well as causing his pressure in his head. She also said he had a tight diaphram, which was stopping him taking a full feed (he used to feed every half an hour during the day, and every 2 hours at night). I would give it a go if you can afford it.

my ds had a tight diaphram too and there was an area on the back of his head which was compressed it was around the second or third session where we started to see improvements,i saw improvments during the session too.is expensive though

A good friend of mine had a traumatic birth with her DS (second child). He spent his first few months screaming and not sleeping until they were at the end of their tether. Someone recommended cranial osteopathy and they decided to go for it, despite being completely skint at the time. Anyway their DS was a changed baby after a few sessions. Friend says she wished they'd done it earlier and she would recommend it to anyone.

There is a charity which provides paediatric osteopathy on an ability to pay basis in London and Manchester.

We tried them after ds2 had sleep problems. I think it did make a difference but we didn't go till he was 5 months and may have helped more earlier. He was posterior until late in labour and needed resuscitating so had compressed head, neck and chest. He definately sleeps more and in a better position now.

If you are in London area I can recommend a fabulous CO - she was worth every penny as she took my breastfeeding hell nightmare and turned it into something treasured and special with DS and I that I actually miss now.
