seizures in adult male?

My lovely brother felt ill whilst driving me and family out for the day today. He pulled over into a layby, got out of the car, sat down then proceeded to pass out then have a number of convulsions on the grass.

He is bit of a fainter but fitting is unusual.
He was checked over by a paramedic who decided he was ok to go home and it was stress related.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of convulsion? He is scared he will not be able to drive.

Also any ideas for a gift for the passers-by who were bloody amazing. Helped, stayed and even drove us all home!

He definitely should see GP. Fitting in a normally fit and well adult requires investigation. I am a bit shocked at paramedic - was it a proper seizure or just a bit of twitching?
Was he responsive to voice?
Did he lose bladder/bowel control during fit?

i'm not sure what the difference is between a proper seizure or a bit twitching.

I was with him and he tensed rigid, eyes rolled back and jaw clenched whilst he made grunting noises. He wasn't aware whilst happening but was responsive immediately afterwards. He didn't lose bladder or bowel control.

The paramedic checked all his vitals and asked loads of questions. He did give hm the option of hospital but as he seemed fine, he was happy to let him go but told him not to drive the rest of today.

My bro has a history of passing out in relation to blood and injury. He has now told me that he thinks he may have fitted a few years ago when passing out after dealing with a loved ones nasty injury.

definately needs checking out. Whilst losing control of bladder or bowl can happen it can still be a seizure without it happening. I witness seizures almost every day at work and they vary widely from absences ( a bit "vacant" for a few seconds" to full "drop" or the twithcing ones people mostly associate with seizures..... and everything in between.

Individuals tend to have their own pattern and there are lots of history and tests to go through before a diagnosis can be made but what happened to your brother does sound very much like a seizure............ whether it turns out to be epilepsy or has another cause that can only be ascertained by doctors.

The diagnosis will have to be made before anyone can say whether it will affect his driving.

All the best wishes... it can be frightening and disconterting to both experience it and witness it.
