Euphoria/detached feeling - can anyone explain what this is?

Some days I get really brief periods of complete euphoria. It starts in my tummy and rises up into my chest, then moves to every part of me. When it gets to my head I feel detached, light headed and get memories of dreams I had that night and just feel immensely happy. Its concerning me, I'm thinking that maybe my blood sugar level is low or something.

It has only happened about 6 times, and only happens on certain days. Any idea's on is this? I would feel like a complete idiot explaining this to a doctor.

Go and get your blood pressure checked, and describe the feeling to yout GP. Do you have anything else going on, physically or mentally?

Funny you say about BP, it was terribly high when I was pregnant leading to early delivery but I had meds after and it came back to normal.

Everything else is completely fine, its a good time for me. I've lost my baby weight recently - it took ages - that's the only thing I can think of. (DS is nearly two)

Old thread but I wanted to update...

It turned out I had temporal lobe epilepsy Sad Who could have known from these weird symptoms! I was having multiple seizures (which can happen without blacking out) and that explains it all.

Weird huh?

Oh wow. So how did you find out ? And I do hope you are well now and it is under control. Best wishes.

Thank you for updating op. I've just been googling the condition- the symptoms are very strange! Are you on medication now?

imonlydancing · 15/07/2014 23:27

I had a full blown seizure a year after this where I blacked out and after explaining all of this, epilepsy was diagnosed. Tests supported it.

My neuro has said that many people go on with this type of epilepsy their whole lives without knowing they have it. I was actually really lucky I posted this, as I was able to use it as a log of when the attack happened! Crazy!

I am not on meds yet as we are trying for another baby and my condition is very mild. I only lost conciousness the once, so its not really changed much for me except no driving and being aware of the symptoms progressing to a full black out. I cant go too long without eating. Which I don't mind Wink

As soon as I read your OP I thought "epilepsy". Both my dad and sister have it and have described similar feelings. I am increasingly suspicious that I have it too as I often have similar symptoms (and possibly night fits as well.)
