So wheezy I can't sleep

Yet another night when I can't sleep because I am wheezing so much. Have been wheezing constantly for the last 2 months.

Am seeing GP on Tuesday morning, but it won't come soon enough. Am so short of breath, and I feel quite agitated and panicky, I think my saturation levels must be low.

Anyone else awake?

I hope you're able to get some sleep soon. Have you had any suggestions as to what you can do before you see the doctor?

BerylStreep · 26/08/2012 04:03

No, I have been hoping it would rectify itself in time, I had a bad flu type thing at the start of July, and I have had this ever since, but it is getting much worse. Am considering going to A&E, but can't bear the thought of going on a Sat night. I might call the out of hours dr.

Have you or someone in your family got a salbutamol inhaler?

That may help, if not then call nhs direct.

BerylStreep · 26/08/2012 04:18

No inhalers.

Think I am having an attack. Struggling to breathe, teary, panicky.

Have phoned out of hrs . Going to hospital.

Good luck love x

Hope you're feeling better soon. I've been up every hour tonight so far nebulising. Hoping lungs don't get any worse or I'm going to have to make a trip to AnE to get checked over crosses fingers

BerylStreep · 26/08/2012 07:33

Just back from A&E. Knackered. They reckon it is asthma, and I responded well to nebuliser.

It was extremely scary.

Sorry to hear that you had such a rough night. Asthma can be frightening. At least they know what it is now. With inhalers you will be fine.

giraffesCantGoBackToSchool · 26/08/2012 07:42

sounds like you need inhalers

BerylStreep · 26/08/2012 11:43

The hospital gave me an inhaler to take home, and steroid tablets. Am going to see my GP on Tuesday.

You will probably be given a steroid inhaler which will control the asthma in the long term - and another one to use for short term relief if it gets worse on occasions.
