I hate the things and only take them when really really bad as I hallucinate on them. Anyway I have had to take them at full daily dose for 2 days now and have got the most hoorendous itching. is this a normal side effect? I have misplaced the info sheet from the box

The pill that helps

i take 200-400mg of tramadol daily. I get itching, but bearable. I also get wired so can't sleep. I have stopped. cold turkey. Not A Good Idea Grin so i am back on it and titrating downwards fast. It helps with the pain marginally, but not nerve pain. I am mostly using ice and heat and a very strong gritted jaw. I stopped diclofenac too.

For nerve pain, my GP has recommended pregabalin after I tried gabapentin. If you think tramadol makes your head cloudy, try that stuff! I took it for 3 weeks, but just could not get past the side effects. I could hardly string a sentence together and I had what I could only describe as a hole where words used to be! i could feel that i did not know the word. it simply was not there. so i did a long of 'err err' and pausing mis sentence and gesticulating to demonstrate things. It also slowed my speech right down. and i was only on 300mg! Fucking hate the things more than tramadol. Gp assures me pregabalin won't be like that. I am unconvinced.

Heard good things about amyltriptiline for nerve pain.

Have been taking tramadol regularly since I was 15 and only started having side effects after having DS, it makes me feel really sick now and I end up hallucinating and feeling like I am overheating.

Have also been on Pregabalin since I was 15 and really had to fight to get it but Lord it makes some difference, they tried to just up my dose of amitriptyline instead but I wasn't happy on it, didn't really make a difference. Once I started on the pregabalin I stopped taking the massive cocktail of meds I was previously on as that in itself done more than the rest put together.

Have just been given Versatis patches by a Proffessor and they are really good! They're just local anasthetic in a patch.

Pavlov I was on gabapentin before I started taking the Pregabalin, the Gabapentin was really crap and I hated it and some of the Drs I have seen have admitted that it's not very good, the Pregabalin really really does make a difference. :)

I take two 50mg Tramadol 4 times a day, along with other medications and the only thing I can complain about is the groggy/foggy feeling I get, and I wake up feeling hungover with them but they help me a lot so is worth it. Been on them for months and that is all I have had as a side effect. I also take 50mg a day of Amitriptyline for migraines and was told they are safe together, and I have never had any reaction other than double the drowsiness, especially if taken with Imigran too.

If they aren't working for you, then you must go back to your doctor. I hallucinated years ago when I was given meds without checking what I was already on and it caused a reaction. I also take Naproxen daily and fine with those, but every person is different or it could be something else you take which is reacting to the Tramadol. Best to have it checked out.

schrodingersmew love the name Wink Good to know pregabalin works, Gp did say they give it because it is cheaper and pregabalin is much better, but they don't offer it first as some people are ok on it, although he admits, not that many Hmm. I am hoping to come of tramadol and replace with it, as he said that could work quite well as physio improves back pain itself leaving only/mostly leg pain.

SchrodingersMew · 05/09/2012 19:15

Thanks, always love your name when I see it too. :)

Do give it a chance though, I didn't think it would do too much either but it works! :o

I've taken them before, and this:

feel like I am on an acid trip, all bright colours and whirly bits!

plus itching is EXACTLY what it was like for me!!

IrritatedUser1960 · 31/08/2017 18:47

I need them all the time but I only take them on alternate months to prevent addiction.
I don't get any side effects, I can take 100mgs and don't don't feel anything other than the pain dropping down a level.
