Hi,

I've been struggling with all sorts of stuff for a while now (maybe somewhere near a year).

I've gone down lots of different avenues to try to make a difference but generally without success. My own gut reaction is that I have hormone problems and I have no idea who to turn to. I sounded out my GP on this and she really just wanted to convince me I needed to "take some time for yourself and it will all be cured".

I'd like there to be a hormone specialist that could test my levels and give me some insight.

Ask if your GP would be prepared to refer you to an endocrinologist. They know a lot more about hormones than GPs do!

I should say:

I'm 33 and have the skin of a 16 yr old (bad spots)
I have DTs (so I'm producing two eggs a cycle)
I have mood swings that go from cheery, cheery with tons of energy to down and down and crying for nothing
I have excess hair growth in all sorts of places
Through the month I get constipation/diahorrea and nausea (all related to hormone changes)

The list could go on ........

Have you had a thyroid function test? Might be something as simple as underactive thyroid - that can cause the things you list.

You could see an endocrinologist or a gynae but you need a referral from your GP. You GP ought to refer you - I would insist on a referral now and not be fobbed off.

To my mind your symptoms could seen indicative of polycystic ovarian syndrome (hence the gynae suggestion).

The hirsuitism (hair growth), the acne and the mood swings are all indicative of hormonal problems and PCOS in this regard can be a primary cause of all that you describe.

Was wondering what you meant by DTs so are producing two eggs per cycle?.

Hi Girls,

Can I join?

Background
3 kids - 6 4 and 9 months.
35 years of age feeling at least 80 this morning.

My Mum has an underactive thyroid and also had a hysteretomy at 45.

Have been feeling absolutely wrecked since last baby. Had every test known to Man and all fine. But I do believe its hormonal. I sleep very badly and the week before my period I cannot sleep at all. I went to my GP last week and said your not depressed but you seem to have PMT. My symptoms seem hormonal to me also as my skin can be very bad and I really think that my tiredness despite the three kids is abnormal. Also everything I look up on sleeping badly indicate hormonal also. Any ideas?

Any tips on getting to sleep???????????
