has she got any other symptoms?

fastasleep · 12/03/2006 19:29

Growing pains? (Could be odd ones!) Has she been doing lots of walking/running around? Has she been doing any squating or anything?

fastasleep · 12/03/2006 19:29

squatting*

mumatuks · 12/03/2006 19:29

I reckon it's either part of the virus if she's had one, we had one where we were all getting over it then suddenley got achey for a day. With me it was my feet (silly I know, but true!) With DH it was his legs.

Failing that, has she been swimming / trampolining / cycling? Maybe they're aching after say cycling a long way?

cutekids · 12/03/2006 19:33

don't think she has any other symptoms.
think she may have been doing exercises at theatre group yesterday.
just worried.

I'd give her a nice warm soak in the bath (maybe a gentle massage) and see how they are tomorrow

DelGirl · 12/03/2006 19:38

well that's probably all it is, over exercise. I get that if I walk up the stairs Blush. The only reason i'm asking is that I was reading nhs direct website today as dd has v & d today and cold hands. It lead to the usual meningitis symptoms and apparently that can be one. I'm sure it's nothing but as I've read it I thought I should pass the info on. Can you ring nhs direct if you're concerned?

cutekids · 12/03/2006 19:43

to be honest, we gave her 2 calpols and put her to bed but now i'm panicking a bit. i think she has a sore throat too. think we'd better examine her for anything else hadn't we?

Ask her about a stiff neck, just to be on the safe side (but try to slip it casually in, so she doesn't start over-reacting and making up symptoms or anything) and take her temp..

don't get too worried, it's probably not serious at all!

cutekids · 12/03/2006 20:00

just got her out of bed and checked her body for any rash etc.stood her up and asked her to bend her head down to her chest. seemed to be ok. have put her back to bed now.

cutekids - my dd has had aching back of legs for the last few days. I have assumed that it is part of the virus that has knocked her (and me!) for 6 this week. She starteed having achy legs before the other symptoms arrived.

cutekids · 12/03/2006 20:10

what other symptoms are there, Cadbury?

notasheep · 12/03/2006 20:28

going around dds class-it was a virus,I shouldnt worry

cutekids · 12/03/2006 20:29

when will all these horrible bugs disappear??!!!

OP posts:
crazydazy · 12/03/2006 20:33

Do you give her vitamins cutekids? I have been giving my kids them Bassets vitamins since the beginning of winter and so far they have had 1 cold and no tummy bugs (touch wood). I am more than certain its because they are taking these vitamins as last year they had constant colds and bad coughs.

cutekids · 12/03/2006 20:36

mine have omega 3's with vitamins added, yes crazydazy.

OP posts:
crazydazy · 12/03/2006 20:38

I want to give them Omega's too but I bought them and they wouldn't eat them because they tasted "oily" so we had to go back onto the normal ones.

crazydazy · 12/03/2006 20:41

Also my DD had meningitis (septicaemia) and she complained of achey arms and had fever and was sick all before the rash appeared so would just keep an eye on her as they deteriorate rapidly.

cutekids · 12/03/2006 20:43

oh God!

crazydazy · 12/03/2006 20:51

Sorry cutekids I really didn't mean to worry you. Its probably the last thing in the world your DD has.

Hope I haven't said the wrong thing.

cutekids · 12/03/2006 20:57

i worry all the time anyway, crazydazy! just my hubbie gets all annoyed with me if i keep going on about things.thinks i'm paranoid.when he's working away and, if any of them are unwell, i have them in bed with me just for my own peace of mind.

crazydazy · 12/03/2006 21:01

So does mine cutekids, thats what Mum's do.....DP doesn't worry even half as much as I do!! He can never tell when they have a temperature and I always can.

I can totally sympathise with you worrying more when your hubby is away....DP had to give his job up working away because I was on the verge of having a nervous breakdown when he left me alone with the kids....so I think you are doing really well Smile

My ds has been complaining of aches and pains at the back of his knees. He woke up last thursday crying in the middle of the night saying his legs hurt, Friday he had trouble walking and was sent home from school. I was worried and planned to take hi to the doctor tomorrow but he seems to have made a full recovery. He has had a really nasty virus and I think these aches were the last of the symptoms to appear. Touch wood he is over it all now but the virus really knocked him out and he has missed loads of school because of it.

Cadbury · 12/03/2006 21:07

cutekids - we have had temperatures, swollen glands in the neck, sore throat, hacking cough, blocked then streaming then blocked nose. She was sick last week aswell. Its been one bundle of fun in our house Wink
