Are expensive vitamins/supplements worth the extra money?

or is it silly not to get the cheaper, own brand kind.

E.g. Solgar, Seven Seas etc. cost quite a bit more than some other makes.

I'm about to buy a load of vitamins and I don't know whether buying the cheaper ones would be a false economy or not..... does anyone have any knowledge on this pls?

I used to work in a pharmacy, and the pharmacist would always be recommending own brand/generic stuff over branded but people rarely followed his advice. I'm a marketer now so I understand why that happens!

If the ingredients are the same, go with the cheaper brand. If in doubt ask the pharmacist for their advice.

Just one thing - are you pregnant or breastfeeding ? If so, you'll want a multivit WITHOUT vitamin A - normally this means buying the more expensive ones e.g. Pregnacare

I personally think that they are. I saw a book once that showed all the supplements on the market. They had been independently reviewed for things such as having in them what they said they had in them, bioavailability etc.
Companies such as Biocare had their products a the top of the list and Centrum and the like were at the bottom.

I think they're important and budget to give them to my kids.
