she fell onto the tv cabinet quite hard. she now has a bruiuse in a straight line which is about 1cm just below her hairline. its coming up for the time she usually has a nap, what do i do?

is it coming up in a lump?

WickedViperWitch · 12/03/2006 09:46

Has she vomited or lost consciousness? Does she seem ok? Has she stopped crying? If so I'd let her sleep I think, she's 2 ish isn't she?

misdee · 12/03/2006 09:46

no, just a bruise. she has rather prominent vein on that part of her forehead.

alittlebitshy · 12/03/2006 09:47

how does she seem? Is she upset? And is she just ready for her nap or abnormally ready for it?

misdee · 12/03/2006 09:47

she is 1.

OP posts:
WickedViperWitch · 12/03/2006 09:47

So does she seem ok apart from the bruise?

misdee · 12/03/2006 09:48

yes, she is drifting off already for her nap.

ihate it when they bang their heads

iirc she's not quite 1 is she? I remember dd doing the same thing at about 9 months, the only difference being she bled. yuk. IF she seems just upset I would prob let her sleep, but maybe hold the nap back by 15 mins or so? hmm.....

alittlebitshy · 12/03/2006 09:49

god i type slowly...

daisy1999 · 12/03/2006 09:51

Oh I hate it when they bang their heads just before sleep time!! I would probably just keep checking on her whilst she sleeps and put a timer on to wake her after her normal nap time.

daisy1999 · 12/03/2006 09:53

just read what I wrote, I meant the timer was to remind you to wake her not to actually wake her with it and scare the hell out of your little one. Blush

misdee · 12/03/2006 09:57

i have called the GP. didnt bother with NHS direct as its usually a 2hour call back which would be useless.

OP posts:
WickedViperWitch · 12/03/2006 09:58

Oh I thought she was older for some reason. She sounds ok misdee, hard to know without seeing her isn't it but if you're worried you're right to call the gp.

misdee · 12/03/2006 10:01

she is fast asleep now, sahe did go off surprisingly quickly.

alittlebitshy · 12/03/2006 10:04

But Misdee, if she upset and scared herself it may have been a relief for her to go to bed. You know what it's like when you;ve cried and cried.. you're whacked!!! Try not to worry too much - I am sure you'll feel happier once she wakes up happy :)

breadandroses · 12/03/2006 10:16

Hi misdee, if the egg started to come up at once, it's a good sign (surface damage rather than deeper). Keep checking her for 24 hours for vomiting- if this happens get her checked out asap. likewise loss of consciousness. Other than that no need to worry! Good luck.

misdee · 12/03/2006 10:41

no lump tho. will wake her up at 11.30 if she hasnt woken by then.

OP posts:
festiveface · 12/03/2006 11:31

I'd just wake her at the usual time. If she vomits, keeps falling asleep, doesn't seem with it or cries as though in pain i would go to a& E just to be sure.

ds2 has banged his head really hard a few times. twicw we went to a&e because he was sick, drowsy and crying with headache. that said, he was kept in overnight both times and checked upon every few hours and by morning was fine and sent home.

don't worry, i'm sure everything will be o.k
