amitryptaline and restless legs

Hi. Does anyone else find that a couple of hours after taking amitryptaline (I take 20mg tabs) they get restless legs? I have an urge to sort of keep stretching my legs and moving them each night when I go to bed. It's horrible and it hasn't worn off the longer I've taken them. Am thinking of trying to half the dose and seeing what happens. I take them at around 5 or 6pm to try reduce drowsiness the next day but I suppose that by the time I go to bed the leg writhing thing is just starting to kick in ( pardon the pun)

Yes! But hadn't made the association till I read this... D'oh!

I've now switched to nortryptalin for less drowsiness - I'll let you know if it makes a difference. Haven't taken any for a few days - 10mg for a trapped nerve - and can't remember what happened last time.

I hope the Nortryptalin helps Fanny. I didn't take any Amytriptaline at all last night and the only difference I noticed were that my legs were't all weird. Painwise I don't think they are really doing much. Let me know how it goes with the Nortyptalin.

I don't know what Amytruptaline is but as a sufferer of restless leg syndrome for many years you have my sympathy! Nothing is worse than wanting to sleep but your feet want to run a marathon!
Apparently RLS is caused by a drop in or lack of Magnesium so get yourself a high strength Magnesium supplement and take it half an hour before bed.
Promise you you won't look back!
