Laproscopic sterilisation after c-sections?

hiddenhome · 16/08/2012 19:54

Has anybody had a lap-steri after a c-section/s?

I have been told there may be adhesions which may make it difficult. I may have to have this done privately, but they do it via keyhole and I can't afford an open procedure Confused

Any advice or experiences?

I had it done years ago with no probs. this was after a section and also after a previous exploratory laparoscopy. Drs never mentioned that it might be difficult. I've had another laparoscopy since and this time the drs mentioned after it that I had a few adhesions but said they weren't that bad.

no problems here with adhesions

Was thinking about getting this done, but nhs leaflet and doctor said sterilisation is less effective than the coil!

They tell you that because it's cheaper for them to fit the coil Dozer Sad

Why might you need it done privately? Would it definitely be more to have it done laparoscopically? Even if you do have adhesions, they can often by cut through, I think it would have to be really quite bad to need to go to an open procedure.

It's less to have it done laparoscopically.

They did attempt essure sterilisation a few weeks ago, but I couldn't cope with the pain and they had to stop. I was referred on the NHS. I missed my follow up appointment to see what else could be done because my house was flooded.

I can't face going back to my GP. Everyone tries to fob you off with the merina. I just want to be sterilised.

Marie Stopes does it privately. It's not as expensive as at a private hospital.

Can you change GP? If you're sure that you want a lap-steri then you should insist on one and ask them to refer you. You shouldn't need to go private Sad

I don't like going to the GP, they will be Hmm as to the fact that I couldn't cope with the pain of the attempted tubal steri.
