Bright yellow wee.

Take brewers yeast instead, then you get chromium and I think selenium too plus amino acids or something.

It has to be normal not de-bittered.

That makes sense

Mouth Ulcers too? & a sore tongue?

High dose vit b6 has dodgy side effects - but only at orders of magnitude above RDA.

KatyMac · 16/08/2012 21:18

This is Tescos B Complex - so I expect it's normal doses

But I started taking it & got mouth ulcers, stopped & they got better, started again & they came back

So I guess it doesn't agree with me

No, I never got a mouth ulcer off them, they are water soluble so any excess your body doesnt need gets flushed out in your urine.

Do you feel you need B vitamins? my mom took mega doses but she drinks Hmm

KatyMac · 17/08/2012 19:48

My mum has pernicious anaemia

I have CFS, FM & IBS & I'm being tested for coeliac

My diet has gone really down hill over the last year or so; so I thought I might need a hand

I have wondered about this too, I know when I had shingles I asked if I should take any vitamin supplements and the gp said there was no point. Any idea what foods are rich in B vits?

Eurostar · 17/08/2012 19:59

That's unusual. B-complex helps keep away my mouth ulcers, have heard that's common, it's also helped keep away cold sores, and sorted my menstrual cycle. Some people do get allergies though of course, sounds like you are unlucky with this one. Perhaps try a different make? One from one of the specialist companies? Maybe it is something in the preparation?

I have also read that the B12 usually used in vit tabs is cyanocobalamin and that it is suggested that it would be better to take methylcobalamin. Liquid drops under the tongue much better absorbed than pills.

If you are worried about your B12 - do get a blood test for B12 and folate.

My understanding of pernicious anaemia is that it's lack of intrinsic factor in the stomach, so you have to have injections as no supplement will be absorbed anyway, no matter how high the dose.

Correct me if I'm talking out my hat though!

I was really taking a B complex & a multivit because my diet has gone to pot

I've had to cut out so many things

I find it makes my heart race if I take vit B complex

KatyMac · 18/08/2012 08:39

You could try taking zinc instead. It's supposed th help with your immune system. Also taking garlic is anti viral & good for the heart.

B vitamins are water soluble so you pee out what you don't need. Pernicious anaemia you can not absorb oral B12 due to antibodies to intrinsic factor. Can take years of being unable to absorb B12 to use up bodies reserves to have clinical signs - I currently have virtually nothing left, but fairly mild clinical signs.
