Bent over to pick something up and put my hip 'out'

How is this possible? WHat could be causing it?

I've been to the GP to complain of hip problems over the last few years. Tightness. Pain. A tendency to have it feel like it has been 'dislocated' if I've sat cross legged for a while. Xrays. Blood tests. Nothing diagnosed.

I went away and put up with it for a while.

THen it started to go 'out' if I was climbing stairs quickly. So I went back to the GPs. They asked questions and said no point retesting anything. Referral to the physio. Phone call with physio. THey are mystified. I am on the waiting list to see them.

Weeks away from the physio making an appt. I've had exercises to do and they have helped a tiny bit. Tightness less of a problem, but still there. But it is getting worse.

It has started to feel like it has slipped out if I have bent from the hip to pick stuff up off the floor. This is something I do all the time at home (sorting laundry, picking stuff off the floor) and at work too. It is particularly bad if I do any twisting to pick stuff up from different directions.

I bend over, I get a stab of pain in my hip, which makes me automatically take the weight off it. When I try and walk, I can't without pain.

It is doing my head in. I have no idea what it could be. I am reluctant to go back to the GP as I feel I am not getting anywhere and am sounding like a right complainer. At the moment my plan is to wait and see what happens when I've seen the physio person.

I have bursitis in one hip and what you describe sounds a bit like my symptoms. Do you sleep on that side? If so you may find it eases if you avoid sleeping on it for a while.

Mine has been very, very much better since I've had my wide horse so I suspect that stretching it has helped (not recomending you get a horse, but maybe some gentle stretching?)
