In agony with vulval varice. Self present to A and E?

This might be long, and will def be TMI, sorry in advance.....

I have posted about this before. I am 23+ weeks pregnant. I have been suffering since week 13 with a vulval varice. It has been awful and has got worse and worse. It is now so bad that I can barely walk and by the end of every day I am weeping in pain. It is HUGE by the end of each day, and if I am not careful I can sit on it :( Blush It's hideously ugly and I am ashamed to show it to DH, although he's been fabulous about it.
I went to my gynae unit and they gave me codeine but told me nothing could be done. That was weeks ago, and codeine now doesn't touch the pain. I want them to try sclerotherapy as I just can't live like this. I have 2 DC's who I can't look after in a state like this. It's the worst pain, for longest time, I have ever had. I can't describe it. Terrified that if it's like this by 23 weeks, how will it be at 33?

Can anyone give me any advice? I want to just go to A and E and beg for help, it's making my life a misery :(

I don't really know what it is ,sounds awful .

I think if you're in so much pain - yes absolutely go to A&E .
Hope they help .

Your poor thing .

( I think everyone is watching cl;osing Olympics rubbish )

I just looked it up, as well as the sclerotherapym and I think I would go to A&E, if it will help you getting treatment. Sometimes here (Canada) it gets you a referral to a specialist quicker if you go to Emergency.
It sounds like you have a severe case, and I can only imagine the pain you are in. It does say on this site they have a 99% success rate with the procedure.

Good luck.

Just want to add, the codeine will have the unfortunate effect of constipation, which would probably add to your agony.
Does soaking in a bath with Epson salts help at all? (grasping for ideas)

[[http://www.phlebolymphology.org/2011/01/treatment-of-vulvar-and-perineal-varicose-veins/ Link 1. During pregnancy
It is sometimes useful to refer the patient to a vascular specialist who is very familiar with the subject, to relieve the patient?s anxiety. Pruritus is treated by bathing with a foaming solution without soap, and then a water-based zinc oxide paste. Pain and heaviness are treated with high-dose phlebotonic agents.22]]

Link 2.Sometimes the varicose veins may become hard, red and tender and may develop some blood clots. This is known as thrombophlebitis. If you have symptoms of thrombophlebitis of your varicose veins during pregnancy then you should seek urgent medical advice.
I read here Link 3 that one woman found ice packs helped.
