I'm being a big baby, but I'm all swollen and tearful- wha's going on?!

My feet, ankles and hands are achey and swollen. Big sticky out veins.
I feel all weak and tearful too.
Meant to be at work tomorrow, but I'll be walking a big dog with not great manners, and my grip is so crap that I couldn't turn the steering wheel of my car yesterday.

Don't know what's wrong, can't stop crying!
Sorry, this is very self absorbed- not sure what I'm asking really Blush

Are you pregnant retaining water?

Otherwise... I don't know. I'd suggest standing too long and blood flow to your extremities making you feel weak. Not sure why that would make you tearful too.

Just Googled oedema - high blood pressure can be a cause. Maybe go to your GP to have things like that checked? It can be a sign of loads of things it seems.

Hope you feel better soon anyway.

Have you been checked over by a medic? Sad

NoVegBeforeSkeg · 11/08/2012 16:49

No, definitely not pregnant.

My blood pressure was ok last time I saw a doctor.
I've got a 'minor' leaky heart valve apparently, but was told at the time it wasn't anything to worry about.
I just feel so rubbish. Everytime I have to stand up, it feels like a horrible effort.

Thanks for answering, and sorry again for the whining!

I really think you ought to see a doctor.

Hope you start feeling better soon.

You do need checking- could be all kinds of things, even thyroid function, so worth going to get it checked out just in case it is your heart.

LadySybildeChocolate · 11/08/2012 17:52

You really do need to see your GP. You can get some pills to help with the water retention, but it needs looking into. If you're feeling crapola now then maybe it's worth your while contacting NHS direct?
