Strange sensation in left breast

I'm 31 years old and had my DD nearly three years ago. I breastfed for 3 weeks but she wasn't latching properly as she has a short tongue so I switched to bottles.

Over the last 4 weeks or so every so often I get a sensation in my left breast similar to the feeling of when I was breast feeding. I keep expecting something to have leaked out of my nipple but there has not been anything.

This happens sometimes several times a day and other days not at all. I also keep getting a very itchy nipple which lasts for hours at a time.

There isn't anything visibly wrong and I can't feel any unusual lumps or anything.

I've phoned the doctors to make an appointment and for some reason it seems to have just hit me that there could be something really wrong and I can't stop shaking Sad My appointment isn't until next week.

Has anyone else had this or know what it can be? The sensation isn't painful but it is unpleasant.

I would have thought it unlikely it's cancer as it is usually sensation less . Most breast issues are benign and even breast cancer has a phenomenal cure rate (90% plus) so please don't worry.

And I had milk issue that went on for years post feeding (didnt leak either) that was eventually solved by a minor op.

Thank you.

I suppose it's more the fear of what it could be that's the worst. I haven't had any problems in the last few years so I'm pretty sure it can't be related to breastfeeding / milk etc.

There are quite a few people in my family that have had breast cancer which is bothering me.

I'm hoping for a flurry of people to tell me that they've had the same and it was something random and harmless.

I haven't spoken to anyone in real life, not even DH. He's workign away at the moment and I don't want to discuss it over the phone.

I was totally fine until I made the doctors appointment and for some reason it feels more real now.

Want to come and lurk on tamoxifen thread in general health? We are pretty good at hand holding and have lost track of people who have popped on to be scared then happily had the all clear.

Equally there are lots of us with breast cancer (and other sorts) who are living proof you can get through the worse news .
