I have a bite, that looks like a blister - what is it?

I don't know when I got bitten, I noticed 4 bites on my lower legs on Monday morning. We were walking in fields/woods on Saturday, but I didn't notice them on Sunday. They don't hurt or itch though, so they could have been there from Saturday I suppose, although they are very red and obvious so I'm not sure.

I don't usually get bitten by anything.

Three of the bites are just little bumps now, slightly red, but one is huge and raised and red, it actually looks like a blister but it's not I stuck a needle in it to check

It's about a cm across and the area around it looks yellowish, like a bruise that's healing up. 'Tis very odd.

Any ideas?

I get these every now and then. I normally get them if I've been bitten in the house though and always thought they were spider bites. I usually get a headache and a rash that goes along with it so I take some antihistamine. Not sure how this helps but wanted to let you know it has happened to me too! Grin

Well I've come down with a horrible cold which started on Monday, wonder if I'd get more sympathy from DH if I claim it's some horrible disease passed on through the bite...

Horse fly? I react very badly to their bites - am currently sporting two whoppers with mutli headed blisters on the tops.

I thought horse fly too. I had a couple this year, antihistamines helped a lot.

I got a bite on Monday that gave the profile (on my shin) of a golf/ping pong ball.
Swelling now gone down and flesh turning purple/black.

Another vote for cleg/horsefly.

I've googled horsefly bites and it does actually seem quite likely - but it's not itchy and not sore. Very odd!

Spider? Though usually this happens in the garden, meddling around with flower pots.

not a tick bite I hope...no idea what they look like though. If it is you'll want antibiotics.

If they don't go soon you MUST go to your dr or A&E- they could be tick bites. These need treatment or you can have long term problems from them- serious problems. if you have a temperature or any other symptoms, go to drs now.

Were you in a area where there are known ticks?
