Hi all,

Have recently had this horrible pounding in my left ear whenever I even slightly exert myself, ie walking up stairs, even getting up to make a cup of tea! Am 25weeks pg with 1st baby. My BP has always been fairly good at all the midwife appts. Has anyone else has this - it's really annoying!

o thank god, thought i was the only one!

have never heard of this in any book or magazine but i had it with dd and am now preg again, 17 weeks and have had it for weeks!

it's horribly annoying but i can't remember getting it after about 30 weeks last time so hopefully it's just your body adjusting to the preg. so glad i'm not the only one! prtty sure my dp thinks i'm making it up at this stage and starting to feel like an old lady as i often can't quite hear what people in shops are saying to me!

It's probably your own heart beat - your blood supply increases during pregnancy and it's easier to hear the sound of your heart in your ears because it's pumping more blood around. Some people get it with tinnitus, sometimes you get it when you have pressure in your ears or head (as you would with a cold or sinusitis), sometimes you only notice it when you exert yourself so that your heart beats slightly harder.

Thanks ladies - it's good to know I'm not the only one - eve2005, you poor thing - I've only had it for a little while - it must been driving you nuts! Going to my first antenatal yoga class tonight and have a feeling my head will explode!! Did you ever mention it to MW or GP?

no, scoured the preg books and couldn't find any mention of it so i was afraid of sounding like a hypochondriac or something!
