Lymphoma

My dad's not been well for 3 years and was diagnosed with a rare type of vasculitis about 2.5 years ago. He's been up and down since then and had some form of relapse 6 weeks ago. Just been diagnosed with lymphoma - not even sure whether its Hodgkins or Non-hodgkins. Step mum didn't ask and he didn't say. He's in hospital at the minute and will start treatment/chemo asap.

Its all a bit shit. Is it as treatable as google leads me to believe?

Outlook depends a lot on exactly what type he has, but in many cases, yes it is treatable, at least in terms of getting people into remission for a decent length of time. Even if it comes back, often possible to re-treat and keep going for ages. Don't despair, but do try to get some more detailed info when you visit him. Possibly the vasculitis was a rare 'para-neoplastic' phenomenon - people can get odd things going on when they are brewing a cancer. On that basis, if he's been not right for a few years, perhaps it's a fairly slow-moving thing?

Thanks. Will go and see him tomorrow and find out what sort it is.
